Thread: I don't see what the big deal is with Rifleman...

What I mean is, the people calling for nerfs....

I guess they never played some of the melee classes or even tried to get to Master Rifleman.

I'm working on Rifleman now and maybe it gets better at Master, but right now it isn't that great. Pistol was much easier, there are many more kinds of pistols to choose from, and Carbineers have a nice KD and shots. Pistols fire fast and can hit from 50m also.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rifle, I have a decent set of rifles and on hunting trips, I barely get any XP, everyone else has the thing almost dead and I'm missing or waiting for it to shoot, getting like 500xp on a Rancor!

If Rifleman is uber at Master, well, it should be. The Master box should make the profession great. Look at some professions and Master isn't worth it. Arguably you can say that about Bounty Hunter, Doctor, Smuggler and maybe a few others. A 0/4/4/0 Doc can still use D Med use 90 buff packs and rez, a Smuggler has nothing in the Master box, Bounty Hunters pretty much cap offensively at 0/4/4/4.

When I played TKA and Swordsman, I FELT powerful, swinging at something and watching a chunk of ham go down, I haven't gotten that feeling yet with rifleman. Nobody in my groups were saying to me "Gee, you kick butt!". I was buffed and using Vasarian.

I think the people that call nerfs are justwhiners that got killed by someone with a rifle. Most of the time, a Combat Medic kills me, with their poisons or diseases, to me, that's a bit much.

i get anywhere from 2000-4400 XP off rancors depending on groups size. Always have a powerup on your gun, get flushing shot 2 in the counter sniping 3 box (area of effect shot, if there are targets in your firing cone that are in combat you hit them all at once...insane XP when my group is keeping 3 rancors busy and im hitting them all for 2000 damage)

You must be doing something wrong because I feel very powerful with my novice rifleman. I'm not the most useful in groups because I have to hit for mind damage, but I still get good xp. Here are some tips to help you out.

Go out on your own and hunt things that are yellow and white to you, and possibly red because you can heal yourself. Naboo is a good planet to get solo xp on. Just mask scent and get out about 40-60m and headshot 'em till they drop. Not great xp per kill, but you rack up the kills fast. I feel very powerful when I hit for 2500 mind damage on a creature. Very rarely have I had to actually stand there and get hit using this method. Since you are also a scout, find resources that are good on a planet and hunt those creatures and sell your goods. Easy way to keep you focused and having fun during the grind.

Brandy is your friend on these solo hunting trips. No downtime for me.

When in a group, make sure that you are far away from the group and prone. The damage increase on headshot is staggering.

I absolutely love being a rifleman. It's so much fun to set up my shot and to drop creatures without them ever doing anything to me.

Im just starting rifleman and i can already feel the power. I am only 2/0/0/1 but wit buff, food and a fats gun i am dropping savage quenkers like flys. I am using a speed sliced T21 now with 32% speed 16% mind powerups, the speed on it with powerups is 3.6(i was using a laser rifle but the minimum damage is jusy way too low on those).

I am killing savage quenkers in 3-4 hits averaging 1200-2300 per hit. i timed myself tonight and i am able to run 2 quenker missions at a time in 8-9 minutes and i get 55k xp per run... ill be master in no time at this rate, and as long as i keep getting more powerful as i go (as all elites do) i should be kickin ass by master.

i think maybe you arent using a good enough weapon to be effective at lower levels, make sure you use a speed sliced t21 (the ap3 really makes a difference) and try to use speed powerups if possible.

Good Luck!

also check to see which shot is doing the most dps.

im 2/2/2/1 rifleman and i use HS3 all the time

its a targeted attacked, not random. and with the group i usually play with i get 3-4k xp on a rancor. all their hits hit the health and action pool. all mine the mind.

its a sort of race to see what kills them first

O_o... I'm only at 1/1/1/1 rifleman, and leveling is ALREADY about 1/3 as hard as it was for my BH... I'm already sitting out on Talus soloing torturs and kimas and GSPs with concealshot... I'm yet to die (except that once when I was getting a drink while concealshotting a wrix and I missed one...). And I'm not even using a T21 yet, since I can't afford one. I imagine when I get flushing shot 2, and up in CH a bit (which is the build I'm doing) leveling is gonna be a joke. And to have defenses! Oi, it's gonna be nice! Plus I'll still have room for a good chunk of pistoleer, and have my big kitties running around. If it weren't for the droid fixes promised, I might never go back to my BH

sorta dumb how you guys hit their mind in groups, thats not helping your group. Use flushingshot2, its AoE and does mroe damage (more xp) and hits random pool so you usually end up hitting health and helping your team.

oh and mr fun socks, you may feel like you are powerfull when using conceal shot to kill harder mobs, but really it isnt that good and it takes a long time to kill things. In the time it takes you to kill a mob that way, you could have killed many more weaker white con or even dark blue mobs and made more xp.

Not really, considering the fact that you have to *find* the mobs. And the fact that you have horrible accuracy, so killing small things isn't that simple of a matter. Besides, leveling scout at the same time, harvests are better on big things. That and it's a hell of a lot more fun. Trust me though, this laser rifle + headshot easily takes out giant dalyrakes, which were a pretty decent challenge at a comparable level in BH. This game's friggen easy like this

you cant count conceal shot.

anyway. if i need to i can switch to OC2 or something else.

the point of us hunting is to get xp. pure & simple.

Are you kidding? Ranged mitigation for BH is in investigation, and one of the best ranged shots in the game (spray shot) is at master.

All the LLC is good for is taking down pikets and ATSTs....

"There were young knights among them who had never been present at a stricken field. Some could not look upon it, some could not speak. They held themselves apart from the others who were cutting down prisoners at my lord's orders, for the prisoners were a body too numerous to be guarded by those of us who were left.
Then Jean de Rrye, an aged knight of Burgundy who had been sore wounded in the fight, rode up to the group of young knights and said: "are ye maidens with your downcast eyes? Look well upon it. See all of it. Close your eyes to nothing. For the battle is fought to be won, and this is what happens if you lose."

I am not calling for nerfs but get over the "We need buffs and Spice" crap most every profession does. No one goes into pvp without either full buff's or close to it and a set of food/spice to make up the diff and a good set of armor. All the melee classes need muon on a regular basis to take on mobs and with some of the classes I wouldn't begin to think about pvp or high level mobs that DB. I think that you are not broken and not in need of any serious nerf. I have played many of the melee professions and am now trying my hand at Rifleman. My wife has been a master carbineer and is now almost a master BH and my work friends have been the other various combat classes. We are far from broke.
