Thread: PvE/PvP for Riflemen

I recently returned to the game, and I am respec'ing to either BH or rifleman for my weapon profession. I've been out for a while and I'm not really sure how rifleman is these days. How is it for PvE? PvP? I really like both play types and I need to make a decision between rifles and BH. If I could get some feedback from the rifle community I would be very appreciative.

Rifleman is nice, but in my opinion it lacks some nice specials. Headshot is nice, sniper shot is effective only when prone. Knee-cap is a nice special, but coupling the profession with another makes rifleman so much better. That's why, when you ask the question, making the decision with both, I'd say mix and match.

My template is M. Rifleman M. Bounty Hunter 0404 Pistols. I utilize all the professions. Sniper for opening shot, headshot for another. Using stopping shot for the root and kneecap to slow them down. Underhand shot for the knockdown gives another second to recover.

Basically, rifleman can be really good, not alone, but with specials from other professions. Say if you go rifleman, with some pistoleer and doc/cm, you can pretty much solo PvE, but it takes time. PvP, it's very nice as ranged @ 80m is what it's all about at the moment.

I have MR/TKM with novice commando and I do fine in PvE.

- I'll always miss pre-CU but I still have fun.

Thanks for the feedback. The thing is, I cannot mix and match. I'm a long time, dedicated master Ranger also. So I can do one or the other (then dabble in another basic weapon line) because I am certainly not dropping Ranger. That is why I am choosing.

i'd take the rifles...bh you for the most part need all of your skill points devoted to hunting to compete with a jedi...if you did take BH and decide to do jedi missions you'd probably end up needing to stick with low level ones, since you'd have no root and no healing beyond stims. for PvE, just rifleman can be effective, though a bit slow because there aren't 2 power attacks to alternate, just Headshot, and kneecap or crippling which are alright.

MRifles/MRanger is great.

P-Darts and Kneecap shots with 80m range, you can kite forever. You can solo Krayts, and pretty much anything without a 80m ranged attack

Okay so what do you need to be able to shoot from 80m. I'm a MBH, MR but every time I attempt to shoot some one from more than 64m, they are out of Range.

Whoops, yep, meant 64, although with Ranged Arms, you just go under 80m, if I remember correctly.

My knowledge of cybernetics is minimal, but I think the +10 and +5 Range stack, that would be +15, add that to Rifles' max range, and get 79...

Correct me if I'm wrong.
