General Ranged Accuracy can be easily applied to any type of weapon you have equipped.

Weapon Accuracies are bonuses applied whenever you have that specific weapon equipped. It stacks on top of your total General Ranged Accuracy.

Example: A PURE Master Rifleman template gives +105 General Ranged Accuracy. But as a Master Rifleman, he gets +85 Rifle Accuracy (which is considerable, BTW). So, his Total Accuracy when he has a Rifle equipped will be +190!

Now, take this Pure Master Rifleman and equip him with a CL 54 Pistol or Carbine. His Total Accuracy will only be +105 with these two weapons. He has no Pistol or Carbine Accuracy Mods. The damage output when using these two weapon types will be considerably less, not to mention less accurate.

Ack any idea if my +13 Rifle Accuracy w/ moving will count to my regular Rifle Accuracy Mod?

obsolete skill mod... I would store it or use it but I also would not expect it to work (or ever work again)

Just to seek some clarification here... I am currently master Bounty Hunter, Master Rifleman and I have been thinking about getting Pistoleer 0030 (for improved stopping shot --- to root foes at 64m, hopefully out of their pistol/carbine/melee range for a little while longer). JUST Stopping Shot may not be enough for me to get that line, but that line ("Stances" I believe) ALSO has +10 melee and ranged defense each skill box.

I noticed last night that when I equip my T-21, I get +30 melee and ranged defense (according to the little base+mods numbers on the character sheet screen). Then I looked at the Rifle skill boxes and they don't specifically say RIFLE melee/ranged defense... which makes me wonder if the melee/ranged defense mods I see in the Pistoleer line are ~pistol~ mods or truly generic.

And just while I'm here... I no longer see any indication of how accurate (or IN-accurate) my shots are based on range (unless I'm just not seeing it and it is there)... so I wonder is there any penalty to using a rifle close up, or while running?

I mean, pre-CU (I left for two years and just came back ) it was a given that your accuracy is best when prone and worst when running, and best at extreme range, etc etc. But now, I just don't know.

And how about defense? I tried a few tests, but I'm no math whiz and it was hard to make the tests the SAME. Basically, one time, I was fighting some creature and let it run up to me and start stomping on me as I stayed prone and crawled away, firing at it as I did... another time, I hopped up and ran away, firing. Clearly I take less damage when I am far enough away that I don't get hit in melee, but does my accuracy suffer so much that I might as well not bother trying? And what about when the foe has a ranged weapon of their own? Do I take more damage when prone (as was once the case, I dimly recall) or not?

I've read in the online help manual (hahahahahahaha) that when a foe closes the distance a rifleman should get up from prone and switch to a carbine and then stand up and switch to a pistol as the foe gets closer... well, I don't know about anyone ELSE, but it almost never takes foes THAT long to get into melee range with me

And my pistol skills SUCK compared to my rifle skills. So I have to wonder, are the disadvantages of a rifle in close quarters SO much that you would rather lose all your bonuses and switch to a pistol?

The fact you can use abilities across weapon-types makes things even muddier ---- what would happen if I used the Firearm Strike with a T-21? That thing is a massive club!

if something specific states a weapon in the skill

ie: rifle accuracy rifle defense vs ranged accuracy or ranged defense

then that bonus only applies when using that type of weapon

if something does not state a specific weapon or such

ie: melee defense vs rifle melee defense

then it applies at all times

In regards to defenses:

Melee & Ranged Defense can be taken at face value. Simple.

However, your Total Defense depends on the weapon equipped and the character's Defense Mods with that specific type of weapon.

Example: A PURE Master Rifleman gets +35 Melee Defense and +100 Ranged Defense. With his T21 equipped, he also gets to add his +30 Rifle Defense to BOTH Melee and Ranged Defense values. His Total Melee Defense would be +65 and Total Ranged Defense would be +130.

Contrast the Pure Master Rifleman defenses to a Pure Master Pistoleer's Defenses, just so you get a feel:
Melee Defense +80
Ranged Defense +85
With a Pistol equipped: Pistol Defense +50
Total Melee Defense w/ Pistol equipped +130
Total Ranged Defense w/ Pistol equipped +135
