Thread: Master Rifle +90 speed & FS skills +12 speed = 102?

Ok...as a master Rifleman we get +90 to rifle speed. When I train next week with those silly FS boxes, will the "Ranged Combat Prowess" adding +12 ranged speed make us +102 speed???


Yes I know we cap at 100, but what will change here?..anything?


Or is this just +12 for saber throw and lightning?

It's nothing. You'll cap internally at 100 so you'll be firing every Rifle at 1 shot per second. That, however, applies to all ranged profs so with some you wouldn't be anywhere near capping with +12 (I think) so that's why it's there.

Right...I know I cap at 100


right now Im at 95. If I want to get these FS boxes, I would have to drop Master Marksman and buy a Rifle speedtape or AA of +5 to +10


*BUT* if the FS box that adds +12, is a skill that would add my rifle speed up to 102, then I dont need to worry about buying any sort of CA or AAs

Unless it says "+12 rifle speed", I wouldn't count on it (but yeah, it'd be nice).

I think you may be a little confused, as it's not just one box that adds 12 but 4 boxes that add 3 each. That said, Master Marksman takes 6 skill points whereas the whole line of FS Ranged Speed will take 4 skill points and give a much larger bonus (+12 vs +5). So if you're planning on going this route, you won't need any CAs or AAs at all.

Nope..In order for me personally to free up those pesky 24 skill points to fill those 24 FS boxes, I will have to drop master marksman (both the master at 6 skill points and then an additional 18 skill points worth - probably carbine). Thus losing the +95 rifle speed.


I was going to pay out 5 million for a skill tape until someone pointed out in another forum that there is 1 skill tree in the Force sensitve line that adds ranged speed of +12 (for 4 skill boxes & 4 skill points)


so yes it is nice thinking that the +12 (or +10 that is usable) stacks on top of my future +90 rifle speed.......we will know next week

Don't forget that after the revamp, some changes will have happened.Any of theseare possible as far aswe know-


  • Rifleman will not have +90 speed at MR

  • +100 will no longer be the automatic speed cap

  • Regardless of your speed, you will not fire faster than X speed with Y weapon using Z special

  • Speed modifiers on specials may increase

  • Weapon speeds may increase

The good news is that we will possibly have some dabbling options. Last I heard, Smugglers were not too happy about having to use pistols with their specials. I believe it wasGreenMarine who replied to itsuggesting that perhaps Smugglers will be able to use either pistols, carbines, or rifles(maybe other weapons too). Also, some BHs are looking to have the LLC classified as a rifle. Neither of these are confirmed, but if either/both would happen, it will be sometime around the revamp.

yes.. it will put youat max speed.. until the combat revamp when no doubt we will be far, far below +90 and +95 speed.


I wouldn't get rid of those skill tapes just yet.. after this force stuff comes out, might be the right time to actually look to buy those tapes because the price should drop with people being "capped"..and after the combat revamp they may become even more valuable, but of course that is a gamble.
