Hello, I am a Master Rifleman and so I thought you other Riflemen might like to see these numbers I crunched for grinding Jedi as a rifleman.
Cost to make Master Rifleman in rifle xp = 3800000, combat xp = 415000
This amount converted to force combat xp = 151000 force combat xp (since the ratio for reflex and combat is equal well call it force xp)
To open the fs slot you need 6 fs branches. This requires 7450000 force xp (assuming 4 combat prowess and 2 branches of enhanced reflexes).
Therefore in order to open the fs slot you must do the equivalent of grinding to master rifleman 49.34 times.
Im not an old school rifleman, but it still took me a week to master. For me that is 49.34 weeks of doing nothing but grinding. I dont know about you but I am going to wait for phase 4 and unlock ranged speed and get 2 boxes. When they fix ranged speed I will be capped. No jedi for me.
During the hologrind you had to do 8 secret professions to open the slot. This would require ~1208000 force xp usint the 30 to 1 formula.
Just food for thought.

Its supposed to be hard to become a jedi, good thing they made it hard id hate to see every newb on the server flinging his glow **edit** around. It may take a week to master it but once you hit master getting xp is alot easier with the large speed increase.

Yes, once you are master, that 3.8 million xp it took you to master can be done in a cuple buffs. I'm a master of 2 combat professions and can cap 900k xp in both weapons, make it to the village from Dant, convert my 1.8 million weapons xp and 180k combat xp, head back to Dant, and still have to wait for my buff to wear off.

Have to agree that xp rolls in as a speed capped master riflemen.
Did want to ask a question of you though crash. I maybe don't follow how it works as I haven't tried the grind yet - only played around in the village a little bit to get some boxes unlocked and to get a banner, but...If you're maxing out 2 profs worth of weapons xp, aren't you capping your combat xp early on and not able to get more for most of the 2nd half of your time away? It seems like it'd be worth it to only do 1 profs worth of weapon xp, which gets you to the cap on combat xp at about the same time and then go and turn it in - so that you don't waste effort? Just wondering...

Combat XP caps at 300k. So if you have two combat professions to work with, it can be better to cap with both instead of just one- assuming you can get xp for both of them relatively quickly.

I did the math and I am happy with the conversion rate. It took you a week to master? It took most Riflemen about that long nowadays it seems. However, those of us that took months to master(before there were buffs so readily available and there was armor that was worth using) know that getting xp capped in less than 2 hours is nothing to complain about. And getting capped on xp ~50 times is not even close to mastering Rifleman 50 times. It is several times easier to get xp as a MR as opposed to a non-Master. Besides, who ever said that getting your second slot was supposed to be easy? It should not be and likely never will be.

your forgetting that once you hit master in a profession your XP comes in many orders of magnitude faster than it did while leveling. for some professions this can be done with a single line or two. with rifle you really need master to make the XP roll in.
when pub10 launched and i finally got to go to the village it took me 2 days of fooling around with the quests and generally just plinking at whatever critters i felt like shooting at to gain the first three boxes of ranged accuracy. i generally only really play an hour or so a day due to RL work and normally only play on the weekends. doing this i will have finished off ranged accuracy and be capped on FS xp by the time the village cycles...
30-1 too harsh?? nah its just right. if you cap your XP once a day it will take 21 days to finish a single line of skills. that is 3 weeks which is also the cycle time of the village... amazing how that works out. even a casual player that doesnt power grind can finish the FS village in a reasonable time.
sorry but the XP conversion rates after trying it out for real on a live server for combat XP and weapon XP is just right.

First off, you can't do rifleman xp for the 2 branches of enhanced reflex, so it's really only four branches if you are grinding rifle for the whole thing.
Secondly, assume that it takes the average person about an hour and a half to cap rifle XP to 900k and 90k combat xp (rough estimate of course). This equals 60k FS xp. One branch of combat prowess takes 1.225 million FS xp (175 + 250 + 350 + 450 = 1225). Divide this by 60 which is the amount of xp you get per cap and you get 20.4. Round this to about 20 days, which equals almost 3 weeks.
So from all this the message that you get is you need to cap about once per day in a 3 week village phase to do one tree. In my opinion if you can't devote an hour or two each day for three weeks, you don't deserve a jedi.

I think your math is off.
3.8mill rifles xp at a 30:1 ratio equals 126666 fs xp.
415k combat xp at a 3:1 ratio is 138333 fs xp.
So master rifles will give you about 265k fs xp.
7.45mil fs xp / 265k fs xp = roughly 29.
You can get the equivalent rifles xp for master after you master rifles in under 3 days.
We are looking at roughly 3 months of grinding for the fs xp to get your 6 branches. Honestly i think you will be getting your whole branch with extra fs xp while waiting for the phases to shift so you can unlock the next branch.

The real thing to note is Master Rifleman is orders of magnitude better than even 4444 Rifleman, which is orders of magnitude better than Novice Rifleman.
Case in point. At 0100 Rifleman its easy to take on Janta Shaman Missions. You'll do about 3 Janta Shaman Missions per Brandy Buff.
Once you have Master Rifleman you'll be doing 12 or more Missions in the same amount of time, the majority of the time taken up by driving to and from Mining Outpost SIX times during that.
Now Janta Shaman Missions honestly suck for XP. But the reality is there is no difference in time between the pathetic Janta Shaman Missions, and the more fruitful 25k Voritor Missions.
Point being While it takes a good week to Master Rifleman from Marksman, it generally will take only 3 hours to gain the equivilant XP as a Master. Do that seven times a week and you're talking not 49 weeks, but 7 weeks to get the XP.
Now really grinding THAT much is hard, and realistically it will probably take closer to 14 weeks, but you cant get Jedi faster than 18 weeks anyway.
