ok.. so I'm a little confused, and I'm not really high enough up the speed tree in Rifleman to be able to test this well myself.


I understand that plus rifle speed modifiers are a percentage off the base speed of the weapon. I'm just a little unsure about where and how that's calculated, and I'm not sure where the speed cap actually fits into this. Here's the same situation calculated two different ways, and I don't know which is right.


Master rifleman (+90 rifle speed) using Surprise Shot (Time 3.0X) with a 5.0 speed rifle.


A. 90% off of the 5.0 weapon speed leaves a weapon speed of 0.5. Apply speed cap for a weapon speed of 1.0. Surprise shot time is 3.0x, so you can use surprise shot every 3 seconds.


B. 90% off of the 5.0 weapon speed leaves a weapon speed of 0.5. Surprise shot is 3.0x, so you can use surprise shot every 1.5 seconds. Speed cap does not apply here because it's not less than 1.0.


Any info is appreciated.

taken from the old FAQ (it's linked off the main FAQ)


Actual speed = weapon_speed * shot_penalty * (( 100 - rifle speed) * .01)

So if you have a laser rifle at speed 5.6
And you are firing Headshot 3's (time penalty x2.0 ??)
And say your rifle speed modifier is +75


Then Actual speed = 5.6 * 2.0 * ((100 - 75) * .01) = 2.8 seconds/shot


At master, rifle accuracy = +90 (if not master marksman) or +95 (if master marksman), so...


Actual speed (+90) = 5.6 * 2.0 * .10 = 1.12 seconds/shot


Actual speed (+95) = 5.6 * 2.0 * .05 = .56 seconds.shot, but 1 sec.cap so 1 sec/shot

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that's the way it was, but just wanted to make sure.


Sorry about asking something that was in the FAQ. Truth be told, it didn't even cross my mind to follow the link to the old one.

wasn't trying to imply that your question was invalid because it's answered in the faq
