Personally I hated it.

it was complete poo on the face of it. the devs HAVE said that how combat is now should be forgotten it will all change. all those "suggested" things in that list were modification of the current system which will cease to be.
That's assuming they ever get to the combat balance. I'm skeptical at best due to their previous "promises."

well all evidence points to them wanting to do it in a fashion that greatly enhances the game since they will be spending serious dev time on it. not just tweaking a few existing skills and modifiers.
the original combat balance was just a series of simple tweaks and skill shifts. while they were doing this they realized that this was a much bigger project than they had considered it to be. with JTL on the burners they ran out of the human resource to do both at once so the CB was turned into a revamp and along with the GCW revamp will end up as much of a drastic shift in gameplay as JTL.
so basically this will be a mini expansion in the scope of what they are going to undertake.
my take on it is that i am glad they are taking into consideration the ramifications of JTL on a live environment before attempting the CB. this means in the end less work and an overall better CB when it finally goes live since they wont have to have been compounding problems by developing two different patches (JTL and CB) in two different evironments and then having both take drastically longer than expected.
the other thing is that although the majority of vocal CB people inhabit these boards they are by far in the minority compaired to the outcry that would have resulted from delaying JTL in favor of the CB that really is aimed more at PVP than anything else. PVP in the ground game is less than 15% of the SWG population.
so far as im concerned they are doing it in a logical fashion. and just read my sig for how devs think ![]()
And they've never said this before about anything

Well, by what I read from THs post on the revamp, which is now first priority for the devs, I'm encouraged. Looks like some great things are in store for SWGs players.
Believe me, I am hoping as well. I'd like nothing mroe than to see a working game. It's just too bad that they couldn't "throw their resources" into a working ground game a year ago. I love this game (mainly because of the people I've met and because it is Star Wars). I just hope something happens quick before the rest of my friends, and ultimately me, head off to some other game.

well, based on the hardwork they put into JTL, i'd say they ARE capable of actually doing some constructive work. i don't care if you think JTL is crap or not, that's an incredible amount of coding they did.
so, if they indeed throw their resources into a combat upgrade i have faith that we will see results. whether they are positive or negative results, we will just have to wait and see.

. It was their number one priority one year ago and was promised to us by early last year. I think the smuggler and Sl revamp were a priority at one time too. Ask them if they've had any love at all since launch.Sorry if I'm a bit jaded, but broken promises sure are a trend here.
Fair enough, but then they also had JTL to worry about, which was their first major expansion. Now that that is done and doing well, they can concentrate on the revamp.
