Master Stances and Grips (Pistol) + Master Footwork (fencer) = 70% KD resistance. If you train 2H sword, you get and additional 15 or 25 if you go master. Thats 95% KD resistance. Like I said, this will be very expensive in terms of skill points but maybe it's worth it.

KD is getting nerfed hard. I think it will be more of a finishing move now, if you let someone get you down to 30% health they'll use knockdown on you so they can kill before you heal up.

I've got the sick feeling in my stomach that Riflemen didnt get any KD defense because KD was never supposed to work against prone figures.. but that got lost in development somewhere.
