Thread: Three of our damage types are WRONG.

This has always kind of bothered me. I figure I might as well rant about it now.

Tusken Rifle: It shoots bullets. Slugs. Watch the movies. Read the source material. Actually, scratch that. Go get yourself two types of armor. One that protects against energy but not kinetic, and one that protects against kinetic and not energy. Fight some Tuskens wearing each one. The one that protects from kinetic will block damage. The one that protects against energy will not. Yet when we loot their gun, it is listed as an energy weapon. Even though it has distinctly "bullet-ish" sound and graphics. Fix this. Make it kinetic. It would take two seconds.

Jawa Ion Rifle: The Jawa Ion Rifle fires an electromagneticly charged energy stream (often set to the "STOP" command fired by a droid restraining bolt) meant to short circuit equipment. It's an EMP weapon, really. But there's no Electro-Magnetic damage type. The closest type to EMP we have is electricity. Go take a gander at Episode 4. Shooting a person with a Jawa Ionization Blaster wouldn't stun them, though it might electricute them if the gun was powerful enough.

Spraystick: Or more specificly, the Stokhli Spray Stick. It's a meter-long pole that shoots a sort of filament-netting. Think of it as a huge mucus gun where the ammunition hardens around the target. Notice that I said it's a METER LONG POLE. The Spraystick in the game looks exactly like the stick in the Technical Guide, only with the scale COMPLETELY wrong. Someone wasn't paying attention when they made the model. The first time I took one out in beta, I submitted a /bug that my Spraystick was really small onscreen. And it doesn't fire energy. If anything, it should do "restraint" damage, though I have yet to see ANY gun do restraint damage (why is there a listing for this)? In lieu of that, the Spraystick out to be the one that does Stun damage. And, ya know, it ought to be a meter tall.

I know, I know. Considering how bad our HAM costs are and how horrible our accuracy is and the 250% Melee Penalty and all that other jazz, why am I even wasting a post on this?

I don't know. Maybe I've got a serious case of OCD. Maybe I just like complaining. Maybe I am afraid that the next time I type the phrase "250% Melee Penalty" one more time I'll drive a pencil through my throat out of frustration. But I thought someone oughta know. Besides me, I mean.

T-21 shoots bullets also. I am just going by what I have seen in game, outside the starport in Keren by the rifleman trainer, there is one sitting on his table with the shells. They look about the size of the shells we used to load in the cannon of the F-14 Tomcat.

As for getting our weapons changed to kinetic, isn't that what melee is? If it is I don't think any of the other ranged classes would like it since they have small melee damage multipliers also.

I like the spraystick even though it is more of a pistol, but giving it a restraint or snare would be cool. As long as they made it like the commando weapons, not snare more than 15m away. It would a nice tool to get up and beat feet.

Yeah, I have seen those huge shells. The T-21 is definitely an energy weapon, but I wouldn't mind getting a hold of the CANNON that fires those shells! There are other guns in the game that deal kinetic damage. . . Striker Pistol, for example. Hey, it's not a great gun, but neither is the Tusken Rifle.

Heh any weapon that shot shells like those would obliterate anything it hit, but probably shatter the shoulder of anyone shooting the gun unless it was locked down somehow. Would be a neat toy if they added something like that. Maybe a super high velocity AP gun that you have to be prone and locked down somehow.

The commandoes would have a fit though, so we will never see it.
