Thread: Why bother being a rifleman? StoppingShot hits for over 1000 damage through armor...

Hey, I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. I was under the impression that the Rifle was supposed to be the highest damage per hot weapon, but it seems it's not even true. Turns out that Pistoleers using Stopping Shot can hit for over 1000 through armor and one-shot almost anyone, and still refire in like 2 seconds. What is up with the balance of this?

I know damage in PvP needs to be reduced by at least 50% (if not 75%) across the board, but this style goes beyond the simply outrageous damage to being totally overpowered. I think the Rifleman correspondant should bring it to the dev's attention that our one-shot damage is not that great in comparison to pistoleers. I don't mind pistoleers firing faster and even having a higher DPS, but when they can just one-shot like this there's something wrong.

Yes, I'm pretty much calling for a nerf, because I don't think there's any way to reasonably increase rifle damage much more than it already is. I just don't understand why I went with a rifle so I could shoot for 2000 or so every 7 seconds, when I could just shoot for 1000 every 2.

Every class, has an ability to one shot. Our Rifles with one shot, could one shto you 3 times. With proper Weapon Smith, and abilities, everyone will be one shotted, becuase of only AR1 armor. Although, Pistoleers only get up to a AR1weapon.

Difference is if we get a bad roll, we do not kill you in one shot and must wait 8-10 seconds to shoot again.

If the pistoleer gets a bad roll, he can fire again in 1.3 seconds.

Range.... Range... RANGE>>>>>

A rifle specialist has the sniper shot... you can kill someone from a mile away.

A pistolieer will have to get pretty close.. and by then you can be kiteing them all the way home..

They will adjust the power of the guns .. and when they do... it will all balance out.

As for PVP.. up close the pistolieer will always win.. as it should be..

( in the wild west , it was billy the kid with his pistols who rocked the land... not some smuck with a rifle sitting at the end of the bar. )

Worse thing is.. im on route to rifle specialist.. hehehe

Some reasons why you shouldnt ask for a nerf....

------

The closer you get to Master your shooting speed increases to rival thePistoleers!

The closer you get to Master your accuracy increases dramatically.

Your advantage over the other fighters is distance. Keepthem away.

This is a ranged combat profession, you are not an in-fighter. You should never be in the middle of the brawl.

You can learn skills to fight up close if you like, but why waste the skill points after mastering ranged combat? Learn the advantages and use them. Or choose another profession. Im sure there are legitimate issues with the class that need tweaking, but most Master Riflemen seems to love their profession. This tells me that too many Rifle Experts and Rifle Specialists are unhappy because they are not becoming the overnight Master.

Every ounce of effort Ive put into the Riflemen tree has been well worth it. I trust theMaster Riflemen to make the best requests for changesto the class. Im very satisfied as it is Though I chose my professions carefully.

Its like boy who cried wolf, the legitimate issues are being cluttered up with nonsense.

How is our advantage distance? Every other class is MORE accurate all all distances. And since the t21 has a bugged ideal range we are HORRID at 64m.

Eh, perhaps you didn't notice that stopping shot targets a random pool?

Untill it is fixed, HAM cost is a serious issue. A t21 with headshot 3 will eat enough HAM to make you seriously vulnerable. I almost always run out of mind vs anything over blue (con based on master rifleman with a t21) unless I start useing normal shots which arent efficient. Even headshot1 drains me because at my lvl everything has armor and the t21 armor mod is broken. Along with lotsof misses because of the ideal range 0 bug.

The real problem is that the Pisoleer is just as accurate at 60m as we are . Tested this myself last night on sloooooow monsters that have 10k Ham pools . Shooting with my rifle , in prone at 60m I never miss , have like 99% accuracy .

Kiting at 60m WHILE RUNNING and SHOOTING OVER MY SHOULDER ? A solid green wall of hits at 60m in my combat window . SOLID GREEN !!!! My accuracy rate running at 60m was like 80-90% . Just ridiculous .

The penalty for pistol is supposed to be decreased accuracy at range and it's broken PERIOD . Needs fixing asap if balance is the true goal .

Why does it matter if stopping shot targets a random pool? What difference is it going to make when they hit you for 1000+ damage anyways. I got hit by it today for 1700 including the person had 2 pets that can hit me for 900 damage.... yes I died... quite fast.

Ye, my only issue with pistol users is the max range accuracy.. it hits REALLY accurately.. I hardly miss at the max 64 meter range
