cover means the enemy has less of a chance of seeing you which translates to you getting 3 shots in before he charges. ofcourse if you're pvping cover is useless

"...which translates to you getting 3 shots in before he charges...."

From my experience, I get 3 shots beforea mobcharge simply by lying Prone before shooting. The "Take Cover" button presumably does more for you than that. Perhaps Ineed to testit myself with a friend in a duel.

I get 3 shots off from being prone, and about 7 or 8 while covered.

Does "Take Cover" subtract from your opponent's accuracy?

If so, how much does it help? If not, what is it doing, especially in PvP?

I have noticed in PvE groups whenI "Take Cover", mobs will refuse to shoot back at me, even though I am doing the most damage.

Thank you,

Personally I don't think it does much of anything, and you're probably not doing the most damage. Rifles, even the best of them, have less damage-per-second than a good scout pistol. You see yourself landing the big hits but you don't notice that the Scout Blaster guy is hitting the target for 1/3rd of your damage, but 5 times as fast.

I believe the problem is that accuracy caps at a penalty of "-50". Once you have mastered your profession enough to get some of those "Accuracy +20" skills, then you basically never miss, even at -50.

When I was kiting Jaxes, I shot them all the time while running with an accuracy of -50 and I would estimate I missed maybe 1 out of 10 shots doing that.

So cover just means that instead of missing you 1 time out of 10, they miss you 1 time out of 9 or something.

I haven't made a scientific study, that's just my impression.

I'm going to test this right now .

I get three shots always from prone . Always - there is no variation . If people are getting 7 or 8 shots in prone and cover , that is something I have NOT seen in my experience with the skill ever .

I will go test it now , tho . Everything I have been fighting charges in 3 shots ( damage inflictions to the enemy - misses don't count but DOT tics do ) whether I'm in cover or not .

Only time i've ever gotten 7-8 free shots is when i'm prone with maskscent and picking off low level animals. From what I can tell the cover skills makes you harder to hit as well as being more accurate, if you compare the number of times they miss you when covered compared to simply going prone then you can see the difference quite a bit.

I think attacking from prone gives you two free attacks, then the mob starts charging. If your weapon speed/skill is good enough, you'll get another shot off. I don't, I'm only Expert Rifle with a 6.8 second DLT20a, so I get up and start running or swap weapons after the second shot.

Well , gave this a test and I got 3 shots without Cover and with cover ..... drum roll PLEASE ....

I got 3 shots .

Have never seen more than three shots before an animal charged , with mask scent , cover , prone or whatever . It's three shots and if someone has a substantiated proven method to get MORE than three shots please post .
