Thread: AR Piercing bonus damage over non armored opponents is not present in PvP

As most of you know by now, when you AR weapon rating is inferior to the AR rating of the target you suffer a 50% damage penalty for each AR defense point over the weapon's AR value. On the other hand when your weapon AR is over the AR defense of the target, you receive a 25% added damage for each point.

It is seen easily on PvE whenthe attack of your AR1 weapon does 500 damage in the combat window and 625 damage on the overhead of the AR0 target (assuming 0% resist).

However, I have recently experimented in PvP, and that bonus is completely removed from PvP. Effectively, your AR1 gun/rifle/carbine will do the same exact damage on a PvP opponent whether he is wearing armor or not, it will still have 100% effectiveness in both cases (again, assuming 0% resist).

Now I know most people are askingforPvP damage to be reduced in order to have longer fights, but I believe this change is especially hampering rifleman over pistoleers (whose most weapons have ar0 piercing). Wouldn't it be more logical to apply a 25% reduction on all attacks in PvP rather than only reduce the added bonus of AR piercing weapons? This change from PvE vs PvP effectiveness is the only thing I can think of at the moment that makes the PvP rules different from PvE...

A few details on the PvP experiments that made me come to this conclusion:

With a Dlt20 ar0 weapon, if I attacked my friend wearing no armor and I did 100 damage on the combat window, I had 100 damage overhead ==> normal

With a Dlt20 ar0 weapon, if I attacked my friend wearingfull armor (ar1)and I did 100 damage on the combat window, I had 50 damage overhead ==> normal

With a Jawa Ion Rifle ar1 weapon (unlike the bugged Tusken Rifle who is supposedly ar1 but is in fact bugged to ar0 and messed up many of my earlier tests), if I attacked my friend wearing full armor (ar1) and I did 100 damage on the combat window, I had 100 damage overhead ==> normal

With a Jawa Ion Rifle ar1 weapon, if I attacked my friend wearingno armor and I did 100 damage on the combat window, I had 100 damage overhead (instead of the 125 I would have done in PvE) ==> NOT normal

Again, all those tests were donewith 0% resist.

It's not displayed in game at the moment but it is there, they are planning to add it "soon" in the examine window.

Supposedly those are the rifles with ar>1:

Jawa Ion AR1

Tusken Rifle AR1 (broken atm it has ar0)

E11 Rifle AR2 (untested but it is supposed to be ar2)

Laser Rifle AR2

T21 AR3 (broken atm it has ar0)

I need screen shots if you want me to get it fixed. Im writing up my report now, if this is true, it will be in my next report. Without a screen shot, there is really no proof but assumption.

Here are the proofs:

On the monster the tusken rifle is doing 125% damage, on the player with ar0 it's only doing 100% of the damage.

vs armor its not, but vs no armor it is. So the idea is, dont wear armor in PvP

I checked carefully your latest posts in the "current issue" thread and you do not seem to discuss that problem at all. I took the time to not only bring this to light, test it out extensively, take screenshots and post them on a website at your demand, the least you could do is at least answer me a simple "yes Flyo, I took notice and I included it in my latest report". I guess I'll just have to take your last answer to a different poster as a vague aknowldegment of my post and the hosting of the screenshots...
