I am an MDoc/Fencer/Rifleman working on MRifleman/MDoc.
Mind cost isn't that much of an issue in PvE, as long as you have a good supply of Vasarian Brandy & Ahrisa, with Vagnerian Canape for emergencies. Dancer/Musician mind buffs also help a lot. Don't use the heavy composite armor, and you'll be perfectly fine... I do a lot of my PvE hunting buffed and unarmored.
In PvP, it might be an issue, but as long as you learn what your capabilities are and keep a careful eye on things, you should be fine by the time you hit MRifles.

what species are you? for pvP in my opinion mind cost is less of an issue for me than in Pve. Pve tend to be long and drawn out, while for me at least in PvP one of is dead in 20 seconds or less.

well what you should do is just max out your focus and with two brandies and one or two ahrisa (depending on your base focus) you wont have any mind cost
If you cant afford to buy the food, then try mind buffs from a musician which should at least double you focus and will help you considerably and since a lot of people set up buff bots in cantinas, they are pretty easy to find. Also, someone in your guild (if you're in one) might have a buffbot alt who is on a lot who you could get a mind buff for free from

I used to think mind costs were a hug problem until I started getting some quality Ahrisa. 2-3 of them and it's golden. Ent buffs are gravy on top of that. Add Brandy if you feel it's necessary. Under those conditions, I switch back and forth between my T-21 and DXR6 regularly. Sometimes I still use my Jawa, but since most quality PVPers on Bria now roll with top of the line STUN armor, and good Imp PSGs, I find the T-21 and DXR6 better all around. Don't really mind the mind costs anymore.

Looking at the different types of rifles and other ranged weapons, rifles seem to have a higher mind cost, andpistols action cost. I am a doc and would prefer a ranged class which has specials that do not use all my mind up, any thoughts?
Also, I know that weapon damage randomly targets the different ham pools, but it seems like it goes for health (and possibly action)more so than the others, anyone else notice this?

Human, but I'm not insane like most dedicated PvP'ers are. My stats are balanced; I do not *need* buffs to go hunting, unlike most dedicated PvP'ers.
I have 700 mind, 500 focus, 550 willpower. I use Vasarian Brandy and Ahrisa, with the occasional snack of Vagnerian Canape for a large, short term boost in secondary stats. I stagger my use of V. Brandy, so that one is wearing off just about the same time that the drink filling has gone down enough that I can take another shot. This usually allows me to have two VB going at the same time with just enough leeway that I can take a third, sometimes, in emergencies.
