Earlier this morning around 3:00 AM EST I paid a visit to the Rifleman trainer in Mos Eisley, Tatooine to learn the final skill in Rifleman: Rifle Abilities IV: Fast Sniping. I noticed quite a difference in my speed from the previous +60 that I had (+60 at 4443, +70 at 4444). I went out with a friend to Dantooine to hunt for some resources to make a few Dantooine camo kits while he worked on his XP. The +10 speed helped a bit indeed, and I did notice improvement. I was saving Master Rifleman for when I woke up, because I wanted to compare 4444 with master.
I went to bed and later woke up around 10:00 AM EST being very anxious and happy that I was about to get Master Rifleman. I made the trip to Mos Eisley, Tatooine and visisted my old time friend and trainer there. He taught me the final phase in the Rifleman profession: master! I gave him a /deepbow and with a bit of a sad chuckle I left after reading that I've learned all that he can teach, and he can't teach me no more. I gave him a /wave and headed out north of Mos Eisley to attune my new skills that I've learned from my mentor ...
Good Lord! Talk about Mountain Squill revenge. What a huge difference. I was using a moderate DXR-6b and I almost fell off my chair when I was doing about 1500+ mind damage a SECOND ... a second! The Squills did not have a chance. I then tried strafeshot 2 and wow, all I can say is wow. The speed is amazing and the damage output is insane. I am definitely diggin' it (:
With these new abilities, though, comes a whole new way of looking at the profession. I thought I had worked out everything I needed food-wise and HAM management-wise, but I did get incapped because I was not used to the high-speed high-output damage and costs from specials from my rifle at that high of speed. My mind went down so fast and before I got a chance to even pop a brandy, a Squill slapped me a good one and knocked me out.
My questions to you guys:
What tactics do you use for keeping HAM costs with specials low? I've purchased Ahrisa and Brandy, with Canape and it seems to work quite well. I also had two rifles made for me that have low HAM costs with specials and I'm anxious to use them now (: I am definitely going to need it, because I was doing more damage to myself using specials than the Squills hitting me. FYI, I have my stats migrated to health: 400/400/400, action: 400/400/400, and mind: 1000/1000/1000 with a human character.
How I can completely take advantage of strafeshot2? Is there a certain time / way I should use this amazing special? I noticed that when I tried to shoot at two Squills with it, it hit the other but did not damage him (judging from the damage hit floating above the target). The first one that I had targeted took hits but the other's HAM didn't even move. I know for sure I'm doing something wrong, so any tips are greatly appreciated. Should I position myself a certain way?
Thanks in advance, guys! I'm so incredibly glad that I sticked with Rifleman all the way through. I have to admit there were times where I wanted to drop it and go with another profession because I barely noticed differences when I trained up, but I kept reading on how it was worth it once you master and the stories were nothing but true. Definitely well worth it, and definitely well worth the time put into getting that last final box.

all you really need is some buffs to compesate with the brandy and arisha... focus and constitution buffs at a bear minimum will llow you to spam without kill yourself.

Both squill's have to be afro to you for you to damage them both. This is a relatively recent change, but i like it, hunt jedi on dath with +5000 nightsister faction, then run a a spawn, now you have Helpers!

i use strafe 2 all the time, cause even if you dont hit the second target, you can put some triple dmg on your primary, i use it mostly on groups of tuskens, target the warlord, chief, or capt and it will usually take out any commoners and raiders in the vicinity in 1 or 2 shots

It's been that way for at least a year. The combat spam causes confusion as it shows damage to every target in the cone, aggro or not. But they don't actually take any until they are aggro.

Get Ent buffs. You will need them and they help a lot. Especially in combination with foods.

They both have to be aggro'd. You can send in a pet/droid tank and once the MOBs attack it open up. You'll hit them all. You can also tap each one with ConcealShot. That should do it. Though I haven't tested it myself.

get your focus over 1500...generally 2 brandy and an ahrisa would do that, even in full comp (with your existing mind stats). better yet, get a musician buff and then pop a brandy (if you're wearing armor). that'll do it too.
try and get yourself another +5 (minimum) or better yet, +7 in rifle speed tapes. be sure to read the rules of skill tapes so you don't cancel any out or use precious sockets on junk!
if you want to use strafe2 at speed cap with a dmg sliced T21, you'll need+96speed. (or +97if it's a REAAALLY slow rifle).
enjoy the profession, it's damn fun

My Stats are (human):
- Mind 1000
- Focus 800
- Willpower 650
Before going to hunt i get my Dancer- and Musician-Buff and thats it. I don't need any food then. Although i keep spamming StrafeShot2 my Mind-Bar doesn't move a bit (or at least as less that i don't really register it)
Keep in Mind that the Rifle-AoE all work in a cone (90 degrees or less), so the nearer the aggros come, the lesser chances for you to hit them (as they come out of your cone). Right in front of you there seems only to be some pixels of cone.
I usualy target the lair from 65m, look for the right place to start shooting from (to get all mobs into the cone at the first shot), and thats it. Most of the times (depends on mobs resistances) they dont even get a touch on me, they all die on their way running at me.
If one or mor get through to you, don't trie to get him into the cone, you move very slow while shooting (when trying to walk just some inches to the right or to the left). Better stop spamming Strafeshot, move away from the lair (70-80m) and headshot the mobs in front of you before they eat your health.
this way you kill the lair and all mobs in less then a minute...
Rinse and repeat = 900.000 XP in 2 hours (if you thing about FS-XP grinding)
- Mind 1000
- Focus 800
