Thread: Headshot 3 : A Feature Request
I understand the shot has little to add over headshot 2.
My suggestion is this and this ties into what I have read in other posts as well:
1: Keep the damage from headshot 3 and the HAMthe same but, add aslight chance of knockdown with the shot ( a feature some riflemen are asking for ).
2: I would offer a suggestion that it be calculated by total damage done vs.HAMof target. For instance, if the damage dealt is over 30% of"the available HAM"of the target, a knockdown attempt is made.
e.g. A laser shot was dealt for 600 damage to a target who's Health = 1000 Action = 600 and Mind = 500 [H+A+M = 2100] 30% of 2100 is 630, so no knockdown is attempted.
Same scenerio, but a laser shot for 1200 damage was dealt to a target with 2100 HAM... a knockdown attempt would be made.
This would add some realisim to the game, uses existing program functionality,would not add such a crazy plus that we would have UBER rifleman running around, but would give a purpose to the headshot 3 and its cost.
If you take a good rifle headshot and you are weak compared to the damage of the shot placed... you are, more likely than not, going totake a dive. If you are a 20k-30k HAM creature... a headshot is damage.
Perhaps the concept will be taken to heart...

1 out of 3 a BH wow.. some how it doesn't surprise me.. that why i am a rifleman. by way i just noticed how most people on this forum are very nice about answering very novice questions. this is very cool. most forum liken the jedi forum... which there is no jedi... imagine that! they flame these people who ask about just simple questions.. it's man... this game has been out for lil over 2 months.. get a grip and life! heh

Riflemen don't have a KD because they have mind bleed and very strong mind targetting attacks. There's no PvE specific attacks, and since mind damage can't be healed in PvP, this won't happen. You can't have your cake and eat it too

I've never bought this silly justification... Bounty Hunters have far stronger, more accurate, and fasterMind Pool attacks than a Rifleman (Eye shot spam spam spam), yet Eye Shot uses Action, not Mind, so they can stim themselves and keep spamming it (which we can't). And yes, BH's have knockdown to boot (as does pretty much every combat class except the Rifleman)
Bounty Hunters DO have KD becuase they have very strong mind targeted attacks and Mind Damage can't be healed in PvP, yet they can stim their Action... wait a second...that argument no longer works, does it? ![]()

2: Flurry shot is not knockdown, it is dizzy. It doesn't help balance the cost of headshot 3
3: I don't think this is a "cake and eat it too", but it does make a win - win situation. It solves an imbalance in the game by giving functionality to justify an action's cost. (headshot 3) It uses existing game basics so there is no massive reprogram effortthat are associated withadding entirely new features. It is not over-powering to the point that it will create an uber rifleman.
Anyone elses thoughts on the idea?

Every rifleman knows the justification you stated and the devs continuously load us off with is nonsense now.
We dont need anyone to damage our mind pool, we do enough NON-STIM-ABLE damage to ourselfs in any case. Theres is not valid reason as far as im aware why riflemen should have a KD ability.

Post Patch.... the patch just made the case stronger for having an enhanced effect for headshot3... dizzy / supression isn't as effective any more.
