Thread: The current status of rifleman
Well, I have been thinking a lot about how this patch has affected us on top of all the other disadvantages we had already.
We still have the same max range as almost all other weapons. We take 2.5x the melee damage. Dizzy and Suppression Fire was nerfed, so we no longer can keep the melee away from us with their 2.5x extra damage. We could just start out far away from them and hope we don't miss with the 1-2 shots we have before they reach us.BUT, Iam master and I miss 50% of the time or more now with this new patch, while I am standing still, and ya he is running towards me, so it's freaking impossible to hit him. Iusually just sit there hopingI will get one more hit in, but they always make it to me first killing me in2 hits easily. Our T21 got nerfed because it did too much damage; Commandos and BH's now have weapons that do more damage and are faster than even our prenerf T21. I know most of the specials need to be done in close range in these professions...but what about this.

That screenshot was a commando out of the 16m range doing a massive amount of damage in pvp, want to know why? It's because out of the 16m they can still do shots other than specials that cause massive amounts of damage. OH OUR BIG ADVANTAGE IS MIND SHOT HEH? Why are BH's more effective with eye shot then? Why doens't it drain their mind pool like ours? Why not be a BH, if the rifleman ability is just built in to it? Our special move costs are ridiculous, we can't do anything after 3-4 hits unless on spice, and even with that there is the downtime when it's over. Monsters teleport right on front of our face, and guess what, when they are there, the one shot you have, you probably miss them. After playing all day and dueling people, and missing 2 out of 3 times, I seriously want to scream about how worthless rifleman is. They keep messing our stuff up, without fixing anything. They keep changing other professions and things, without looking how it will affect us and other classes. Will we ever get any help, or will we keep on just getting nerfed? Because, I pvped all day yesterday, and I CAN'T HIT ANYONE...it's a worthless profession at this point.
In regards to the picture u posted...From what i see that bad @ss particle beam missed you twice... your master, u fire very fast. i never try not to use dots in pvp, the quicker they die the better. The mind bender i wouldn't have used, if u used hs2 thier instead u probably would have killed him b4 that shot got off. And any time i get into a pvp situation like that i try to alsways pop a muon gold, its a huge help
Before u start saying riflemen are useless. Did u know that all the skills in the riflemen tree actually have an effect when fired. With the exception of hs3 and hs 2 comparison, all works. Carb's aoe kd is broke, pistoleer only has 1 decent shot atm and its random pools, they are worthless if any1 is. Out ofrm, pist, carb.rm is in the best shape now. Commando, think of it, they should do massive damage. Bounty Hunter, it eats up all thier skill points. What do u want them to spend all these skill points and be equal with us, then what would be the point.
Every1 is always thinking 1 on 1 me vs. him/her. its a galactic war, thier r sides, your side has the commandos and bounty hunters also. its not like they r restrcited to a faction lol. think team, rebel vs imp. thats what they want this game to be. When u invade/attack Player Citys u mean to tell me u arnt going to want those Commandos on your side, cause they will be. it works both ways, u just didnt have a commando with u and they did, im sure thier will be times when the situation is reversed.
And on the missing 50% of the time, thats not happening with me, oh well. just my two cents

U gotta be kidding me cause most of my elite riffleman specials
doesn't work at all and are pretty much useless...
The only thing i know fer sure that works is Mind/Head Shots,
Concealment, and the Master level specials (Strafe2, etc...)...
Tell me what server u r on and maybe i can transfer my character
to it...
ChronisSWG, I got to disagree with you. Just because a BH spends more skill points on the profession doesn't mean that they should be uber. With those skill points they get a number of other abilities and flexiblity in the game. The have scout skills (exploration, traps, camps) and can use just about every ranged weapon in the game. Unique content in the way of bounty missions and droids unique to their class. Not to mention that eveyone has spent their 250 skill points by this time in the game, so shouldn't eveyone who has spent skill points in something combat related be equally powerful by this logic.
Maybe all of the specials "work" but most aren't useful. Conceal shot will get you aggroed by everything else around, starle shot (raises posture) should never be used, flurryshot is nice at lower levels just because it does good damage to random pools but the dizzy effect is worthless, etc.
And for the fact that commandos/BH on our the same side of the GCW, so? I missed the point here. That doesn't mean that all the combat professions can't be balanced so that their is no overall inherent benefit to playing one class over another. To illustrate my point, take some uber weapon that everyone could use. It's insanely powerful but aboundent. It can kill anything in the game without much difficulty and can be acquired with nothing more than some persistance. Just because everyone can use it, doesn't make that weapon anymore unbalanced. It's the same thing with some of the classes.

First off, that screenshot wasn't of me, it was from another player I found on the forums, there's a whole post debating it. To be honest, if the commandos were limited to 16m, regardless of specials I would have absolutely no problem with it...BUT that guy was far beyond 16m in the earlier posted screenshot. JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN'T USE SPECIALS OUT OF 16m does not make it right that they can still hit for 4k in pvp with a regular shot. The regular shots should not do more damage than a riflemans regular shots if they can shoot at the same range as us with them, it doesn't make sense.

Now, I am a master CH also, and one hit from a commando last night owned both of my pets, and luckily enough it missed me. By your whole skill point method, me using more skill points to master ch and rifleman than just commando, should make me the stronger person, no?

Are you referring to all the shots that now give me the message "you have failed to _______"
What defense do we have to keep melee off of us ?? We don't get a KD to use as a last minute resort like everyone else, in case they get to close...and we take 2.5x damage compared to every other class. The new accuracy changes make it hard to hit moving targets and almost imposible to hit moving targets while you too are moving. So what do you do? Run from the melee man like a little girl or pray that you geta shot in by a miracle without missing before he owns you without taking 1 point of damage?
