I have just achieved novice rifleman and am looking for a T21 Rifle. I am wary of the mind penalties though; the one I have a line on now is 30,000 creds and has a 79 mind penalty. Is this good or is the penalty too high. I am inexperienced in these issues and would like some advice!

79 is about average from what I have seen, just pump up your focus. That is supposed to cut down special costs and you shouldbe ok. Mine has a cost of 71 and I am pretty happy with it.

The 79 mind cost is fairly standard for a T21. You didnt say if you were planning on mastering rifleman or just "dabbling"(when you only take a select few boxes). If you are planning on mastering rifleman, you will find that the T21 will probably NOT be your primary weapon. You will need a variety.

I mastered just this last weekend, without pets, using a T21, a Laser, and a DLT20A (all very good ones, mind you). I used others, but those were my work horses. The T21 was my bleed gun. The Laser and the DLT20a were the murder weapons.

Look around a lot for good rifles. Some weaponsmiths have both 'pre-sliced' vending machines and 'unsliced' vending machines. Early on, you may wantspeed sliced rifles, but by halfway up the right tree, where you get your speed, you'll be wanting damage sliced. Buying unsliced and praying for the right slice never works. I wanted damage sliced, but 20 of my 23 rifles got speed sliced! What a waste!

Here are my current rifles, but keep in mind they are above average and hard to find unless you know the right weaponsmith:
-- T21 .... have a max-damage 470+ on order. Speed is 7.7 i believe.
-- T21 ... have an UNsliced max-damage 346.

-- Laser ... had a max-damage 418 laser, which was pretty good, but just replaced it with...
-- Laser ... have a max-damage 496 laser rifle. (well above average)

I'm at work and don't remember the DLT20A stats.
