Thread: Rifle defense?

What does this do? I have +30 at master, how does it effect the damage you take? I just looted a really good AA with rifle defense on it.

it stacks with melee and ranged defense to increase their values when you are holding a weapon (yes it reduces damage)

I looted a +25 Rifle Defense AA, that is almost double Rifle Defense. Just curious though, I would think it would do something different though. Otherwise, why not just add more ranged and melee defense if it works the same way? Only other thing I can think of is that Skill mods still seem to cap out at 25. So things like speed, you can get a +50 boost only if you get General and Specific SEA's Maybe the same with Defences

that is correct

you can have a +25 rifle defence sea and a +25 ranged defence sea and a +25 melee defence sea

all of which = +50 ranged defence and +50 melee defence when you are a holding a rifle.

Actually, my understanding was that defense reduces your chance to be hit.
Your defense is compared to the attacker's Accuracy, and the more defense your have relative to their Acc, the harder it is for them to hit you.

Then I heard somewhere that if you are *significantly* higher in defense than their Acc, you can actually deflect a little damage also when they do hit.

well BH have a deflection skill called Duelist stance that allows for damage deflection - that may be what your friend was talking about. (have yet to see it work)



Right now defensesdo not reduce you chance to be hit by much but they do determine how hard you are hit. If you defense is higher then the attackers accuracy you take less damage and if lower you take more damage. You do avoid some hits with higher defenses but the biggest advantage is the damage reduction.

Anyone have any formulas yet? I know the +500 and +250 from center or jedi valor reduce damage for 50% and 25%

it is not a direct comparison like you are suggesting


that +500 to defence can lead to a damage reduction of 50% but if the attackers accuracy is high enough

it does not reduce to that extant



eg

if thedefence= 750 and the attacker accuracy = 800 the attacker does bonus damage

if the defence = 750 and the attacker accuracy = 600 the defender reduces the incoming damage

the greater the distance between the two the greater the damage bonus or reduction


therefore with the +500 to defense it generally means you will see a significant reduction in damage (it will always reduce damage but not neccessarily by 50%)

it adds to your ranged and melee defense while you have a rifle equiped...So if you have 50 ranged defense and 50 melee defense and lets say you have 20 rifle defense when you equip a rifle your ranged and melee defense should go up to 70 for both
