Hi,

Yesterday I saw a rifleman hit with strafeshot 2 for 7k-10k... is this possible? If so how?? I think it's an exploit.

Could you be jumping to conclusions?

As for is it possible. That depends. What was the target and what was it's armor and resist levels? What weapons was the Rifleman using and what were it's stats?

Against an AR0 MOB with say 5% Energy resists using a good T21 with damage slice and powerups. Then yes it probably is possible.

An AP3 vs AR0 means 196% damage. That is on top of the 50% over base you usually get. So, a T21 vs AR0 you get this. Lets say the base damage is 400 on the T21. That means the max is 600 (1.5X base). That gives you a max of 1176. StrafeShot2 is a 5X damage multiplier. That bumps it to 5880 max. Close to what you stated. Now that was all done with a regular T21. Without a damage powerup or slice. No Krayt tissues either.

So lets do this weapon with a slice and damage powerup. Both 32%. The slice brings max to 792. The powerup brings it to 1045. The AP vs AR brings it to 2049. Damage multiplier brings it to 10245. So we have gotten to the upper level you observed.

And this is still without other things that can increase damage such as Krayt tissues or maybe an Exceptional stock added. Nor have we considered Exceptional or Legendary weapons.

So it can be done without any exploit.

There was also a problem with StrafeShot2 and some other AoE attacks hitting the taget multiple times, or appearing to. This is caused by lag. So that two shots would appear to land on the target at one time. So the 'floaty' damage is actually the result of two or more shots hitting.

2 senarios spring to mind before calling "exploit"

one is an empty lair, i sometimes hit for 20k with strafe 2 when there are tons of dead bodys lying about........

and the other is the geo caves, stand at the entrance spamming area attacks and for the same reason above, it multiplys the dead bodys on the floor and puts all the dmg into one critter.

not sure if that is still doable at the caves cos i havent tried it since the bunker first opened.

Wonder why whenever anyone can do something that someone thinks is abnormal they call it an exploit.

Yet, it is perfectly accepted and common practice to have people come and exp steal from you while you have a mob engaged? As a crossover from another of SOE games if a mob is engaged and someone else tries to kill or engages, that violates the play nice policies as well as gets someone a reputation of kill stealing.... makes for them being pretty darn lonely on the server and they usually delete the char or move to another server where no one knows them.

It is just funny to see people so quick to accuse someone of wrongdoing when they have not seen what the character has for equipment, and what skills they have available. Personally, I would have asked the person who did the said shot how they were able to do that before throwing an accusation out in the forums.

Sorry should have clarified why I was posting on this board. We were killing a Giant Dune Kimo and one of my groups players is a rifleman with max speed and a great t-21. I came to this board because he didn't think it was possible to hit a kimo for that much and I was just curious to get it straight from the horses mouths so to say.

Does not a GDK have light armor and resists to energy? There is another effect to consider. I have seen lag on some conditions that allow you to hit several times before the other clients see it. This may have been a combination of several shots, lumped into one indication.

Easy actually. T21's on my server show a max damage of just a bit over 400. But normal damage is 1.5X the listed. Which makes that 400 go up to 600 base damage.

aaah, sry, misread your post

I thought you meant 400 min, 600 max forgot about the 1.5 factor
