Hello fellow rifleman,
I'd just like to thank everyone on the Rifleman boards for making my work days enjoyable
My account runs out at the end of July. I've always been a rifleman and enjoyed it a lot and wish you guys the best of luck in the future, I hope the profession weathers the combat balance storm.
Just in case anyone is curious, Skel Etor never holo-grinded. His first holocron said Commando, and although it probably would have been pretty easy at the time I didn't feel like doing it. Skel was originally a Rifleman/CH, which was loads of fun back in the day. I was king of PvE for awhile, so then I ventured into the pvp ranks and found I wasn't so great. I then became one of the hated stackers, hehe. I was rifle/tkm/4400 fencer. It was pretty disgusting how good that was. I could beat multiple players at once. I didn't mind CM's at the time because I figured, hey, someone has to be able to kill me. After the stacking nerf I decided to try out Pikeman. That was also pretty fun, especially being a part of a small community again. Of course then I basically became a mini-cm in pvp. I never got into the crafting scene because I have the guildhall on my lots, so I don't think I could afford to do it.
Basically I'm leaving because I have lost interest. After playing for a year, there's not much for me to do except pvp and that's in a sorry state. I was pretty disappointed as well when they decided to dedicate 2 patches to jedi instead of fixing combat and the gcw. I always thought I'd stick around at least untilJTL, but the last month or so I'd sign on and have nothing to do so sign off right away. Perhaps Skel will come back after JTL and the combat balance if everything sounds fun, but for now I'm hanging up my evil staff. Good luck everyone

Sorry to see you go, you'll be missed. Maybe the dev's will get their acts togther and figure out they need to work harder to keep long term customers, it's a shame that I have seen so many good people leave this game in the last year.
Well Good luck to you and hopefully you come back for JTL(Which means hopefully JTL aint a failure).

you will be missed, Skel. And I understand completely. While I am still enjoying the game, it definitely has increased in the "same old routine" rating. It is currently my friends that keep me going.
I was reminiscing this weekend about how exciting it was as a complete Noob on Rori to walk 30m outside the city and be in mortal fear of Nightspiders and Chubas! I hate to say it, but the first few weeks were by far the most exciting and they will always hold a special place in my memory. Lately I have started a noob on TC to relive those early days, and its fun, but not the same.
I think a break would do you well. It would probably do me well, too, but not quite yet....

The reason it's not the same is because the main thing missing, it's not the noobieness, it's not the lack of armor and buffs, no the main thing missing is the thousands of people everywhere. It was so much fun, you just wait in Bestine for a couple minutes and you were part of a group hunting tuskens, or Kimos, or even Kryats Or you could just walk into a cantina and talk with hundreds of people throughout the day.
My hope is that JLT brings this back, but I have my doubts.

Yah... you have a point, PJ. But tons of people was never a bonus on Rori. However, it wasn't the dead zone it is these days. I chose Rori because (as a newb who had never played an MMORPG before) I wanted to avoid the locations where the masses would be. It was cool back then.. You could actually go into the hotel and find 2 or 3 entertainers healing the poor souls who wandered in from the wild. The city wasn't crowded, but there was a nice variety of people around. I remember when venturing more than 500-600m from the city gates was really a scary proposition!
My first real "adventure" came this way: There are only 2 cities on Rori (Narmle and Restuss). I had set a waypoint in one and traveled to the other city. I decided to head for my waypoint forgetting it was near the OTHER city. Newb that I was I just kept running after the arrow thinking "I must be getting close". By the time I figured out what was going on, I was in the middle of the planet not near anything, probably had novice scout and a couple of boxes of marksman pistol and rifle. But suddenly the most amazing animals started appearing! Used to seeing only nightspiders and chubas and Ikopis, I was suddenly running into animals bigger than buildings! The awe and amazement may have been due to total newbness, but they were genuine feelings and made the game awesome to me. That is what I miss.

I agree Wayne. When I was a noob I started in Doaba Guerfel on Corellia. It wasn't a bustling metropolis, but in the beginning there were actually people there! I remember when the local medic finally became a doctor. He used to always sit in the med center and heal up our wounds and listen to our stories. Now everyone has meditate 4 so they don't need medics, heh. Or the med center is full of tumble monkeys. I never even visited another city for the first two months. At the time I figured it would take me forever to get bored of the game since after two months I had only seen one of the cities on one planet, hehe. As people started leaving doaba I eventually travelled out and saw the big capital city and finally ventured out to new planets.
I remember seeing my first Gronda and thinking how cool they were. Or when I saw the first big time CH come into the Doaba cantina. He pulled out a Graul (which I thought wasa Rancor, hehe). I made him go outside and pull out all of his big creatures so I could take pictures of them. I do have great memories from early on and I'm not really leaving all bitter and angry, just slightly frustrated because I think I was hoping that with combat and gcw fixes I would regain some of that early on fun. I think the hardest thing for me will be leaving the forums
I spend a lot of time reading the various posts, heh.

Sorry to see you go man. feel bad everytime i see a long time player leave now. and its getting to be often these days since the only peeps the dev listen to are noobs and hologrinders(that beeing jedi)
And i totally agree with you all. I really miss the noob feel i had the first month or so looking at new things, seeing my first rancor and such.
the 3 day i played this game a rl friend of mine took me to the krayt poi were i saw my first ever krayt, was just novice marksman then, dont think i did to much damage to it
. think the group was maxed out on peeps and it was so awsome to see how little damage we all did to it..
the last thing iever taught then was that i could ever solo one, not that i knew that peeps could solo anything that wasnt right outside bestine..
hope you come back to JTL we need more of the old players in the game..
