Thread: Why lower DPS with PuP?
speed 2.36
damage 523-1093
base dps 341,82
When I put on a PuP like 28%dmg and 18 speed I get like 339dps...
Why is that? Do I buy the wrong PuPs? How should the stats be on the PuP if the stats to get a nice boost?? I play on chimera if you got a tip on a good PuP vendor.
Converted powerups are mostly worthless.
They should change the name to "Power Averagers"
On the other hand... Newly made Pup's can be good.
I recently bought some that give a 17% damage increase, and the draw back is -1 accuracy.
Similar ones are +17% accuracy,with a -1.3% speed penalty.
Or something like that...
You certainly need to find a new pup supplier! Sorry I am not on your server.
I have been making pups since day 1 in this game and finally we have pups that make sense and allow me to make which pups I want without random chances on a schem.
Speed pups will almost always increase your weapon DPS. The problem with riflemen, if your likeme, is after a time even when consuming large amounts of food and spice, I have to wait on my action bar. So, I would rather slow my firing rate down....but up the damage I put out. This will actually LOWER your DPS on your weapon....but could make you more effective in game. DPS is a nice stat to use for rifle comparisons, etc.. but not always practical in game.
My standard pups for increasing ranged damage are +23.2% Damage Mod/-5% Attack Speed. This is a 5% reduction in your firing speed but a nice boost of +25% to your damage output. This pup would raise your DPS over an un-puped rifle but not as high as a speed pup would.
I also make "Limited Edition" pups. As a 14pt artisan on my alt I can craft a pup and if I work hard at it (over and over again) I can get all 14 pts to be Amazing Successes. With pups now this makes a difference. The problem is as you boost the benefit of the pup the cost increases significantly. My best damage pups that I use personally on my rifleman are +29.32% Damage Mod Increase with a hit to speed of -9%. This is a welcome trade in my book as it gives me time to regen my action bar and allows me to toss traps as well (as a master ranger).
There are actually 5 types of pups now. The same for melee and ranged. +damage/-speed; +speed/-accuracy; +elemental damage/-regular damage; +accuracy/-speed; +wound chance/-damage. Those last two I don't make...so I might have them off a bit (doing this from memory). 95% of my sales are damage or speed pups.
Get yourself a new pup supplier and get the most out of your weapon/skills.
