Thread: Embarrased to ask: What is Wound chance?
Being as far as I am in the game and having to ask this is embarrassing, but here goes:
What exactly does the "wound chance" (a percentage)mean for a ranged weapon?
Actually, I think that you CAN wound MOBs...the thing is you never see a NPC who actually heals the damage that they take. If you notice the HAM bars of a MOB when you hit them, they will turn partially black sometimes...I think this is them taking wounds...but since they never heal I'm not really sure

It's literally your chance to do stat wounds to the pool you hit. The kind of wounds that require either a hospital, cantina or camp to heal. At first I thought it was the chance to cast bleed damage, but now I realize that is not the case. My T-21 has about a 26.5% chance to do wounds, and that works out because I wound MOBs at my level (/con blue-white) about 1/4 of the time.
now that makes perfect sense , thanks for the info Aden .

The woud chance creates damage that needs healing at a hosapital or a cantina. When you makes a damageyou see the HAM bar go white. When you makes a wound you see the HAM bar go black. Damage heal over time. Wound don't heal over time.
IMHO, wound is more effective at PvP. If you don't kill the enemy you can force your ememy to go heal at a cantina or a hospital. To PvE not is so effective, because you will try kill the creature anyway and because the creaute don't will go to a hospital or a cantine to heal. Maybe at PvE wound can give a hand when using "hit-and-run" tatics, because the creture don't will heal the wound made. But the rifleman profession have good skills to use when making hit-and-run, like mind shot. Then wound chance not is so usefull at PvE.
