hi,

do you think the following skill mods:

+5 ranged defense

+10 accuracy

+ 5 Speed......that comes with achieving Master Marksman.......

Is worth theskill points (34i think)used to complete the pistol and carbine tree under marksmen?

sorry if this has been covered...

thx in advance

I would have to say deffinitely. I have master marksman, unarmed spec, and I will get sniper I as soon as a rifleman comes to dantooine (or they fix the rebel missions, I finish up ackbar's quests and move on whatever is first:smileytongue and I am sooo glad I have it. You have to realize that you dont just get a little extra speed, and a little better accuracy, you get overcharge shot 2, suppresion fire, and pistol spec. I am still a newb rifleman and thats why I'm so glad I have overcharge shot 2, I normally group with people doing xp trips where attacking the mind is just wasting damage to both myself and the creature. So I oc 2 the guy and help out instead of just do mind damage for the sake of testing my DPS vs 3 other guys and some pets, mine isn't too far behind yay)

Now the main reason that this is a great thing is because you get pistol spec as well, and while you may not be as great as a pistoleer/BH you do damage to the guys when they warp on top of you and have a significantly better chance of living. Now throw on top of this the fact that you can get unarmed spec relatively easy (alot easier before they nerfed knucklers) and be able to grab commando. Now I wouldnt advise getting all of this at the same time, heck all I did was focus on marksman then unarmed and am now working on rifleman and slicer, and I still have enough skill points to give me loads of scout and medic skills not to mention EH 3. While my build may be helter skelter and that may be the reason that I like having all those skills (I need them since I lack any power punches) it is nice to have them, besides what else were you gonna spend them on?

do you think the skill mods are worth it? thats what concerns me....

i will have to give up some medic if i pick up master marksman

I was thinking about getting it, but decided I could just get a enhancer, instead of waist all my points on skills I wont use. I decided Ill just start looking for a +5 rifle speed enhancment, or more. Will probably cost me 100k, but I would rather spend 100k, then get skills im not going to use.

The + to accuracy doesnt help, you already get +102 accuracy at master rifleman, 100 is the cap.

In that case then no, do like aldeon said and buy a good mod for your gun. I have master and I'm glad i do but then again I have skill points to waste on my build so it isnt a big deal to me. Definitely keep medic over carbine if you dont think you'll use pistols (and therefore any other marksman skill but spec and rifle).

I'm a master marksman/rifleman, and I like it quite a bit. It lets me do things that other riflemen apparently thought were impossible until recently (heh).

I read on the Swordsman boards that speed tapes (and possibly other tapes) don't seem to be working properly right now.

Also, what is the source/data for the +100 accuracy cap?

I actually find I do use the other marksman skills. It's nice being able to hit other pools, and not to spend mind. Ever since I ran into a Nightsister with 100 to all resists except 70% kinetic, I always carry around at least two rifles, a carbine, a pistol, and a heavy axe.
