I started my char as a wookie brawler, dropped it at unarmed and ploearms 2, and switched to marksman. I'm about to go apprentice rifleman (you know, the one after rifles 4 in marksman) but my mind's insanely low (like 400) andI take a good chunk out of it wheneverI use overchargeshot1 (which is enssential to me atm). However, I've got-- in my opinion-- a pretty "kick ass" laserrifle.

ShouldI just make a habit of buying brandy?

Should I become an artisan and supply myself with my brandy?

Should I become an entertainer and buff my mind?

Should I get friends with an entertainer and get them to buff my mind?

Should I use the "slow" stat migration?

Should I just dump marksman all together and sell my rifle?

What shouldI do???

Adjust your stats if you want to continue to use the rifle. My character has his focus, willpower and mind maxed.

Entertainers cannot buff their own mind.

Riflemen is an expensive profession I guess. Most riflemen have severe stat migrations. Many or most travel buffed pretty much all the time. I believe my stats are currently at 450/475/400 450/475/400 1000/1100/750. Math doesn't actually work there, but it's about like that. I do not worry about regen because buffs will regen for meand I care more about losing stats (governed by focus, quickness, and strength)in the first place than regen (governed by constitution, stamina, and willpower).

As far as what to get your stats above in order to be able to shoot specials at no cost, the magic number for focus is 1400. This means that you can shoot strafe2 (the highest HAM cost special) at no cost all day long. few tricks to the migration are that regen doesn't matter cause you're going to get buffed - after that

With my HAM set up the way it is, I can get on a very light encumb set of 57% base composite with no buffs. If I am going out for PVP, i wear a much heavier encumb effectiveness sliced stun suit that requires buffs to get on.

As far as your concerns about becoming an artisan or something else to support your brandy/canape /buff addiction, there's no need. You can run at least 10 32k missions out of an improved job market city in an hour with just master riflemen alone. That's about a million per set of buffs. If you are a loot collector, without even mastering riflemen you can solo krayt dragons if you have the patience to conceal for 2 hours. 1 in 3 or so will drop something worth at least a couple hundred thousand, up to many million dollars.
