Well I was a master rifleman, dropped it to master fencer, came back to master rifleman and then dropped it again to try BH. I came to the conclusion that I was happiest as a Rifleman, so I am building my way up, again =).

Anyway I want a secondary profession for my rifleman but am not sure what I want to take. I've been away from the rifleman for a while so I don't know if the old templates hold anymore.

So I was thinking either TKA, Swordsman, or Fencer. Since I already have a master doctor on another account I don't really feel like making another. Which of these three combat professions should I take, or is there another one I haven't considered yet?

Thanks

If you are only considering those three then I'd say Fencer. You get the best defenses with Fencer along with another stun weapon. Other people like Swordsman as well for the mind damage, I've never been a swordsman so I can't comment on that.

You might want to consider pikeman if you are rich and can afford some nice pikes and skill attachments. With a couple of good dot pikes you can be pretty effective with rifleman.

I am a Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman/Master Brawler with Medic 0 1 0 0. The defenses of this template are moderate. Neither Rifleman nor Swordman have particularly high Defense vs. xxxx mods, but the template does give you a +60 to defense vs. Stun since Swordsman ties with Pikeman for the highest defense vs. Stun at +50. While you can cap ranged and melee defenses with other builds, this build does give you a +92 to ranged defense and +67 to melee. The Ranged defense is 4.6 times what you get from Swordsman, and while the extra melee defense does not help that much while holding a rifle because of the melee to-hit bonus against us, +67 is nearly 2.5 times the amount you get from the melee side of the build. This means that when you have to switch to a melee weapon when they get up close, you are much better off than with just Swordman alone from both ranged and melee attacks. Unfortunately, since block and counterattack are weapon specific, Rifleman's block does not help while holding a sword and Swordsman's CounterAttack does not help while holding a Rifle. As indicated, there are higher defensive builds since some builds can cap melee and ranged defenses and/or the secondary Block, Counterattack, or Dodge bonuses, and other builds have higher Defense vs. xxxx, but this build does have some good moderate defenses.

But offensively, this tempate is great. Rifleman and Swordsmen have the highest AP weapons of their respective classes, and they have high damage as well. Both Rifleman and Swordsman can target mind, so that means you do not have to start working on a different pool if you switch to a different weapon. With Master Brawler, you also have 1H weapons to target Health and Polearms to target Action, just not as effectively as you can target mind. So you actually can target any of the three pools.

Thus, you can Stun and Dizzy your target from afar, and choose to either target Mind or go with a higher damage random pool shot like Strafeshot2. Then, if they get close to you, continue targeting Mind or go with high damage melee attacks to random pool or specifically target a week Health or Action pool. And with Lunge2, you can knock them down.

I really enjoy the combo.

try combinations of pistoleer, tka, and fencer. you'll be untouchable. sure theres a defense cap, but with all of that ranged defense, melee defense,defensive accuity, dodge, defense vs. x, in addition to the firepower of rifleman...well you get the point.

I know this is going to sound weird, antithetical, and even redundant. However, so far I have found that Pistoleer/Rifleman is a very interesting combination. My final template will be:

* Master Rifleman

* Master Pistoleer

* Master Marksman

* Medic 2000

* Scout 3010

This has some nice advantages. First off if you want the extra speed from Master Marksman, then in order to get extra defenses you get pretty tight on skillpoints. That's why pistoleer makes some sense here. It adds state defenses, and melee/ranged defenses. Also you dodge pretty darn good, so if you have to go into melee this is a decent upclose option.

Since you haven't spent a ton of skill points to get (brawler+ a tree) in order to pick up something like TKM or Fencer, it leaves more skill points to get the support classes like Medic and Scout. Thus you can be a well rounded fighter for both pvp and pve.

Here are the final modifiers for this template (the ones that matter):

Melee Defense +87

Ranged Defense +92

Defense vs Blind +50

Defense vs Dizzy +50

Defense vs Posture + 50

Defense vs. KD +50

Defense vs Stun + 50

Dodge +80

Block +70

And, you can heal,stop bleeding, mask scent, walk up hills, harvest, and make camps.

As you can see these are maybe not the most uber of defenses, but they are definitely decent. And the great thing is you aren't a total PVP or total PVE build. You can do either well. So if you are looking for a compromise between hunting and dueling, this might be an option.

So far have the master pistoleer part and am currently working on rifleman. At about 0-0-2-3 Rifleman, I went to the Tusken fort with nice buffs and armor. For 3 hours I fought there and never once did they get my stats low enough to even warrant an in combat heal. They missed me so much that my original ideas of dropping master pistol started to evaporate.

You want extra speed even with master marksmen.

At master rifle, you are +90 speed

Add master marks, you are +95 speed

You want to be at +97 to fire all specials with all your weapons at the cap. For example, if you're not +97 you cant fire all your specials at the cap with a say.. an 8.0 T21.

IMHO, since you already need to acquire rifle spd tapes to hit the cap, skip master marks, save the skill points, get your +90 from master rifle, and get +7 in skill tapes.

i am a master swordsman and besides Krayt Dragons there arnt many things that can kill me one on one that is. may be a dark jedi master or mobs with 300k HAM would easily take me out. this is what i am doing

master swordsman

master rifleman

fencer 4440

with this i get these benifits::::

BLOCK === +80

COUNTERATTACK=== + 110

DEFENCE vs DIZZY === + 70

DEFENCE vs KNOCKDOWN === + 75

DEFENCE vs POSTURE CHANGE (down)=== + 90

DEFENCE vs STUN === + 60

DEFENCE vs BLIND === +60

DEFENCE vs INTEMIDATE === + 40

DODGE === + 90

MEELEE DEFENCE === + 129 (casue of the cap you get this gets to only 125)

now i know this is not comparable to a person who really wants to only solo. for that rifleman with master doc thrown is the best template. but with this you can basically take out 90% of the real high mobs. with a good armour and a full 9 sets of buff (health action and mind) you can take out a krayt and maybe a dark jedi master and people like night sister elders if you have only a cm or a master doc with you. plus you can basicaly kick ass against all mobs wheather they are melee ( like night sisters or singing mountain clan) or ranged {stormtroopers or rebels (depends on your faction)}

another thing i considered was

master swordsman

master pistoleer

and fencer 4440

with defences and dodge up to ying yang but pistoleers as i see cant really do mch dmg against high end mobs so i gave that up. no offence to pistoleers meant its just my opinion based upon veiwing the weapons one can use as a pistoleer.

hope this helps,

werwolf
