Thread: What's the speed cap?
Your question is confusing. Here is some information that may help:
-- Typically, the term "speed cap" refers to how fast you can fire shots from a weapon.
-- No weapon can fire faster than ONCE per SECOND. So the speed cap for everyone is no less than once per second.
-- Each weapon you hold can fire at a different speed, depending on ALL of the following factors:
1. The rated speed of the weapon (what you see when you examine the weapon)
2. Your 'speed' with that type of weapon (if your holding a rifle, your current 'rifle speed' is a factor)
3. The shots you are firing. (Special shots have a "delay multiplier" built in and slow down the fire rate.)
What does all this mean? Assume you are holdinga rifle that is speed 5.0 and you are so newb that your 'rifle speed = 0'.
If you were to attack something and fire NO SPECIALS, then your rifle should shoot every 5 seconds.
Now lets say you decide to fire a series of special shots such as Head Shotsthat has a "delay multiplier" of 2x. (This is made up, I dont know the delay multipliers in my head, so Head shot may be more or less than 2x.). Then your rifle would fire headshots ever TEN seconds (5 x 2). But now you progress up the rifle tree and your rifle speed = 50. This speeds up your rate of fire and you're back to firing head shots at once every 5 seconds now.
So the bottom line is that every weapon will work at a different rate depending on the three things up above.
At Master Rifleman, I beleive you can fire ANY special once per second (the cap), no matter how slow your rifle, if your 'rifle speed = 98'..

You need 97 speed to cap on all rifle specials on rifles 9.5 speed and below. It is simply amazing spamming strafe shot 2 with a damage sliced and damaged powerup'd T-21 rifle on a krayt dragon. It's also amazing to have 93 sword speed to used damaged sliced hammers at the speed cap....
Till they nerf it.
