From my experience, you're better using a T21 or a high accuracy DXR-6b. A good PSG and stun composite will whittle the Jawa rifle's damage down to a negligible amount. I was swapping between my T21 and my DXR-6b with good results last night.

the jawa ion used to be the PvP rifle of choice because MOST armor had little protection against stun damage.
once every rifleman had a jawa ion, and every fencer had a stun baton, and every pistoleer had a geonosian sonic blaster, armorsmiths crafting for PvP players did everything in their power to increase the stun protection of their products.
so while the jawa ion USED to reign on the fields of PvP, those days are long gone.
the high AP of the tenloss (DXR-6) rifle (AP2, acid) and the venerable T21 (AP3, energy) does a good job overcoming ANY player armor, since crafted armor is capped at AR1 plus resists.
an AP0 weapon against AR1 armor does 50% dmg (minus resists).
an AP1 weapon against (AR1) the same armor does even dmg, minus any resists.
AP2 and AP3 ADD damage (because they overcome the AR rating), minus resists.
using an 'armor piercing' rifle is more effective than, say, a jawa ion rifle againt most PvP targets.
as for specials? try headshot3... but keep in mind that it costs a disproportionate amount of damage for the HAM costs... headshot 2 is definitely the daily driver, and until your speed caps and you have your mind cranked out to the maximum buff value, headshot 2 is the better deal. once you hit master, you can start throwing strafe2... just recemember: PvP is a little more complicated than a game of 'paper, rock, scissors...' and picking your targets wisely from the ranks was a strolk of genious. and use flurry shots and posture changes while you still can... whether the code will change or not remails to be seen.

Posture change meaning... suppression fire 1, I assume?
We have startle shot that is posture up attack, but that is hardly any useful in stopping a charging opponent...
I am in a little dilemma myself here, choosing between more secondary defenses or having the ranged support line in marksman that gives me aim and suppression fire 1. I did drop master marksman as I already am capped in speed with my skill tapes, but this ranged support line seems too useful to drop. If I do drop this, then I can getthe fencing finesse column in fencer and increase my defenses vs. dizzy, blind, and intimidate by +40, +40, and +20 respectively...
Terrain negotiation is another thing I don't have, so I move very slow in hilly areas. As a rifleman, I will have to kite like crazy and I wonder if this will have negative impact on me as well.

Funny that no one mentions one of the single best rifleman shots, Flushing Shot 2, area stun and high damage output.

I just recently dropped my all melee pvp template and I decided to pick up rifleman. I have never had any experience with any ranged professions and I need a little pvp advice. I am wondering, what kind of weapons I should use? Many people have told me to use a Jawa Ion Rifle, but what should the damage stats be, because I dont want to buy one with crappy damage. Last thing, what attack should I use, Is head shot 3 the most powerful PvP attack? Any advice in rifleman PvP would be appreciated, Thank You.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll try all the advice that everyone gave me. Other people can add on other stuff as well if they would like.
