Well, when I started out, I was originally going to be a pistoleer/CH. However, PL kind of, well, sucks, and Rifleman doesn't. I got to 1/1/1/1 in PL, and 2/1/2/3 in CH. I switched to Rifleman, and I noticed, if I have a nice beefy pet, I can just send that, and pick off what I want, without worrying about it running to me (as long as the pet lives). Should I keep doing this, or should I drop CH once I get to master Rifleman?
Note, I have no interest in PvP. Just PvE. TIA.

It depends on how you want to play. If you want to be a CH/Rifleman have at it. It always helps to have a tank. My suggestion is to keep it and see how you like that combo. If you don't like it at that point, then drop it and pick up something that compliments your play style better.

Two more things. One, is it worth learning master marksman?
Two, does anyone have a link to that max damage calculator? I was sure I bookmarked it, but I guess I didn't. TIA

Master Marksman will give you a +5 to rifle speed. Since you only need 97 to cap with most rifles, that puts you within +2 of the speed cap. So if you can afford the points, yes it is worth it.
If you are trying to decide to keep or not keep CH, remember that the Creatures took a big hit early in the year with regard to balancing combat. This was preparation for the rest of the balance, which still has not occurred. So you may want to consider that Creatures will not be as effective now as they will be after the balance, and make your decision accordingly. That is, if you want to be a CH, do not judge its worth too harshly right now. They should be more useful after the rebalance.

I used to be a ch/rifleman ... but I dropped CH on account of my pets always running off and forcing me to chase after the thing thats chasing them. I've dropped CH and recently become a master rifleman. I use droids for tanking, I have an Adv R3 Combat droid with 40% armour and 4k HAM and a probot with the same stats. they don't run off as often ... or thats how it seems to me.
I used to use them on 10k ham mobs while I used /mindshot2 or /headshot3 from a distance. However when I was doing that I was 4433 or less in rifleman. Becoming a master rifleman means I can spam /headshot3 and drop the same creature before it gets close.
I'm tempted to re-master marksman so i have rifle speed 95 instead of 90. as I favor slow hard hitting guns and with speed 95 i'd speed cap most specials with my Ezo T21 (speed 7.7 dmg 235-500). it would take headshot3 from 1.54 seconds to 1 second. 3 shots instead of 2 shots.
I haven't yet tried solo grouping ... I may see how my droids help on that.

they only use stim pack A's .... which means they are pretty bad. IIRC you have to use the radial menu on the droid to request a heal and it has to be owned and called by a medic at least. Better to get novice medic and buy a whole bunch of Stim B's

I'm going for Master rifleman and CH 0/4/0/4 (amoung other skills). With two 4K HAM cats out, and a 4K auto-heal droid, I expect to be able to drop most things without the bad guys getting to me at all.

Thanks for the advice everyone, and thanks for the link. I'll hold CH until the new update, and if it's no longer worth it, I'll kill it.
