Thread: A Little Personal Dilemma With A Template

I am persuing this template below, but I was beginning to have a few doubts.

Marksman: 4-4-0-0

Rifleman: Master

Pistoleer: 0-0-4-0

Brawler: 4-4-0-0

TKA: 4-3-0-4

Fencer: 0-4-4-0

Very high defense all across plus meditate. The doubts that I have is that I lose master marksman which gives better accuracy, and with this template, I lose aim and suppresion shot1 (for the posture down attack which rifleman lacks). In addition, I have no terran negotiation, so I will be extremely slow in hilly areas.

I don't know if my concerns are worthy or not. Please share your opinions with me.

It totaly depends on your play style. Personaly i only have the rifle side of marksman. I dont miss the other shots there and at master rifleman the +5 speed from marksman is not really noticable.

Right now I am configured like this:

Brawler 4-4-0-0

Marksman 4-4-0-4

Fencer 0-4-0-0

Pistoleer 0-0-4-0

TKA 4-3-0-4

Rifleman Master

With this configuration I have the following mods:

Block +80

Combat Equilibrium +40

Defense vs Blind +60

Defense vs Dizzy +55

Defense vs KD +120

Defense vs Posture Down +100

Defense vs Posture Up +30

Defense vs Stun +65

Defense Acuity +71

Dodge +40

General Ranged Aiming +30

Melee Defense +119

Ranged Defense +140 (capped at +125)

I am debating on whether to drop ranged support line in marksman to achieve Fencer 0-4-4-0.

If I do that, I get the following additions:

Dodge +60 (Total: +100)

Defense vs Blind +40 (Total: +100)

Defense vs Dizzy +40 (Total: +95)

Defense vs Intimidate +20 (Total: +20)

I lose aiming and suppresion fire 1, however. I just want to know how often these 2 skills are used and how important they are.

I have never played a ranger profession without them, so I have no clue.

This character is mainly geared towards more PvP, unlike my master commando, so I would love a few input from veteran PvP riflemen out there.

Hello,

If I may throw my opinion out there... I would suggest not relying on the secondary defenses as much (aka Dizzy, KD, Stun, Intimidate, etc) because even with high numbers they do not work that well. For example, as a carbineer (before I went rifleman) I had the +120 kd defense and got knocked down constantly. In my humble opinion, TK combat equilibrium is more important than the KD defense. Whenever I engage in PvP now I get knocked down almost as much as I did before, and I have no defenses... BUT as soon as I hit the ground my equilibrium goes off and I stand back up without hitting a button.

Also, if I may add... the master marksman's speed modifier is very important. Jawa's are (most of the time) the most effective PvP weapons in the current system because of the Light AP with decent damage. The +5 speed mod makes a world of difference... if I may, lets just do a quick speed equation on a standard jawa at 5.6 spd. Normally, headshot3 is a good way to take someone down because of the unhealable factor... taking a look at this we have a 5.6 spd gun with a 2.5 spd modifier attack. Standard speed mod is 90... lets compare that to 95.

5.6 x 2.5 = 14 x .1 = 1.4

5.6 x 2.5 = 14 x .05 = .7

That can translate into some pretty good increase in DPS.... taking my jawa at 218 to 415... lets get the avg.

218 + 415 = 633 / 2 = 317 (rounded up) x 1.5 (damage multiplier for ranged) = 476 x 3 (headshot3 damage multiplier) = 1428

The average shot to the head with this puppy in PvE would be 1428. That isn't the HIGH and that isn't the LOW. But we still need the DPS.

1428 / 1.4 = 1020 Damage Per Second in PvE Lets convert this to PvP 357 / 1.4 = 255 Damage Per Second in PvP

1428 / 1 = 1428 Damage Per Second in PvELets convert this to PvP 357 / 1 = 357 Damage Per Second in PvP

(The .7 equates to 1 because speed caps at 1 second.)

I didn't know if you already knew all this or not, just wanted to throw it in because I have found it very important in PvP. But back to the template. With all of this in mind, I would recommend at the bare minimum having Master Rifleman/Master Marksman/TK 4/0/0/4. The reason I say this is because your ranged defense is capped... you have 95 rifle spd... you have the TK equilibrium which will stand you back up without you hitting stand (And if it doesn't I normally hit it once or twice and I am back up)... you have meditate... force of will... and powerboost. Keeping this in mind, the biggest weakness you have is DoT's... but everything that is DoT related mainly can be healed by Doctor.

With this, you still have 47 points to play with which give you plenty of room to fiddle around with. I took up medic... just novice... and use a +25 injury/wound shirt that has a speed tape under my armor... with janta blood b's o doom... heal as good as master medic lol. The rest is up to you. I PvP with just this and nothing else, and with proper preparation... I say I fair very well. I don't know if you are new to PvP or not, but if you want I can send you an email in game I set up for the newer PvPers with some of the stuff I do to prepare for a good fight.

Overall though, your template is solid, but spends a lot of points on secondary defenses that will not do much in a major battle. In a duel against a carb or pistoleer its great... but with a good suit of armor and shield gens... you can flop like a fish for four minutes and not have to worry about it. Just my opinion. I hope you the best and can't wait to hear your final decision.

Ah... yes. I loved TKA combat equilibrium. I do have the adequate bonus on this as I have trained TKA 4-3-0-4 so there should be no problem here. On the issue of your experience with frequent knockdowns, could it be that your primary ranged/melee defense might have been too low? Carbineers do not get any melee/ranged defense mods I believe, and just maybe I thought that might have caused the frequent KD to you.. of course I am just speculating.

I am very aware of the speed bonus that I get at master marksman. However, I do have +8 rifle speed clothing attachment, which I believe caps me out on speed as long as I use rifles with speed at just around 7. That was the part of my reason for dropping master marksman. I forgot to mention that....

Your advice is very interesting and gave me new insight to this matter. I appreciate the tip you have given me. Thank you.

By the way, are you in Flurry server? Judging by your signature with "STORM".. which happens to be one of the main imperial guilds in the server.

Would love to talk to you in game. I am Jazzminn in Flurry. ^_^

Well then hiya,

I am sorry, but I am on Naritus. Been here too long. lol As far as the carbineer, I was capped on ranged and melee. I didn't fall on first attempts, butit is easy for somone to just keep hitting it until it happens which puts you in the same situation just a bit later. I ignore melee defense now because I had capped block rate and capped melee defense before and got hit constantly with every melee but a standard master swordsman with a horrid accuracy based hammer. Just something I noticed... the master marksman accuracy doesn't matter much to me anymore because I have a food setup that I use that allows me to have a synthsteak... citros snocake, two brandy's (sometimes three), canape, and thakitillo in me giving me modifiers all at once. the snocake raises my accuracy by 40 which is awesome for the defense stackers... I focus on intimidate and stun then just hit every time every second.

If you would like to talk in game about all of it that is coo. Just be server crossing, nothing wrong with that though lol.
