Thread: More Cover Questions

I just readif someone is within20m of you then you cant go under Cover. I was wondering what counts. Do group members and pets count?

I am alsoattempting touseCover and I get the message that I cannot go under Coverbecause somethingcan see me. Howeverthe cover Icon is under my name and when I change position(kneel or stand) I get the little animation asIf I am breaking Cover.Has anyone else had this problem?

One last thing, When using concealshot while under cover what range does the target have to be in for me to be discovered? Most mobs will immediately run towards me then stop. If I shoot say one or two more concealshots then they immediately run towards me. If I shoot one concealshot then stop the mob will eventually head right for me and attack. Is this supposed to happen?

I was afraid of that. Is this intended, and have you experienced any of the other things I stated?

I am also on Interpid (but I dont think the server has an impact on the issues). I am also getting the Icon underneath even when I get the "Cant do it" message, and get the 'break cover' animation when I change postures or shoot Sniper Shot. I am also getting MOBs moving right towards me and stopping like you described. Like you, whether I keep spamming Conceal Shot or not, the MOB will rush towards me after so many questions, and in a few instances, the MOBs buddies (Rankors in particular) come straight for me while the one I shot is still looking for me.


Also, I have noticed that Aim breaks cover - WTH?

I don't think AIM is inteded to break cover. But for now,if you sneeze or have a horse-fly within 20m of you, your cover is broken.

any action under cover other then conceal shot will break cover (yes that includes aim and is intended - though I am trying to get them to change that)


vehicles, pets, creatures, white npcs, teammates anything of that sort with in 20-30m will prevent you from entering the covered state


any person/creature/thing etc approaching with in 20m will break cover

Thanks for the reply. My only other concern is when I concealshot once then do nothing else. Ex: I start at 65m Use concealshot the Mob runs towards me and stops at about 35m. I dont shoot anymore. He kinda starts to wander back to his original postion but then suddenly tunrs and runs up to attack me. This doesnt seem correct.

I am experiencing the same issue, where creatures find me withinX number of seconds after the first Conceal Shot is fired. What I have also experienced is Social creatures attacking me after Conceal Shot is fired - the target of my Conceal is still unaware of my presence, but other creatures aroundthe targetdo find me almost instantly (Rancors in particular did this to me yesterday).


Is the intent if Conceal Shot to give the Rifleman a short perid of invisibility before being attacked, or is it to provide the Rifleman a mechanism where patience (like maybe 10 seconds between Conceal Shots) can allow the target to go back to its previous behaivour and Conceal Shot can continue to be used until a creature passes within 20m.

I have noticed that creatures within a 64m radius are causing Cover to fail. Is it intended to be within a 32m radius or a 64 meter radius?


On the issue of only Conceal Shot not breaking cover, have the Devs indicated any likihood that "Improved" of "Advanced" versions of skills might carry an improved or advanced chance of being used while under Cover. While Conceal Shot might have a 99% chance of maintaining Cover (since it was designed for exactly that), an Improvedskill might have a 45% chance and an Advanced skill would have a 90% chance of being usable while Covered. This could also mean that someone that is Master Rifleman and Master Pistoleer (or other) could combine Cover with their other Improved/Advanced abilities for a more robust use of Cover, while not making every Ranged shot available usable

I think the implementation is wierd when it comes to how conceal shot and creatures interact. It might be a timer but it is also a distance function. I have fired and then crawled 30 -40m and never drawn aggro but other times they come charging hell bent for me after 1 shot and a period of time. I suspect that creatures now have an alertness stat as well.

Cover really should not break until the target is within 30 or so meters. You may be experiencing the evil they look like they are over there but are really over here bug... (creature is animated and drawn at previous location but has moved to your location)
