I am at CL 14 and have the following skills
Marksman 4443
Medic 2200

my problem is no matter what i do, i can't get more then 2 rifle exp off a kill. i've killed level 1,3,5,8,13,15 and all have yielded 2 rifle exp and no combat exp at all. higher level beasts [i.e 5 and up] are almost impossible to beat because my CDEF rifle chips at their life while they take 100+ life from me. I can't use a better rifle then this because i'm simply not certified for anything better. I like the game so far but i can't let it go on like this. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you need to fight creatures/npcs within 5 cl of you (preferably within 2 cls of you)

  • medic helps wonders as bacta shot is fast and heals fairly well

  • groups increase your power greatly

  • you are using the wrong weapon: (see below all the weapons you are cert'd for in the ranged genre) I would recommend the SG82 (the showerhead gun) as your weapon of choice.

At CL14 you are certed for the DLT20, the DLT20a and the SG82 rifles. Also, if you are solo and killing level 13 and 15 creatures you should be getting a lot more than 2 XP.

Group up & things'll go down a lot faster even if its not necessarily you doing the damage, I was out in a mainly lvl 80 hunting group with a fella who was level 14 yesterday, he was doing no damage at all to the mobs we were taking on but I had to train him about 15 times in 2 hours! (scout & marksman). Pretty soon you'll be at a level where you can take on bigger things solo & contribute a bit more damage to your group. If you pick up a bit of scout like he had then you'll also be able to earn some cash harvesting resources (& there's no shortage of people to train you in scout stuff with everyone having BH)

I went out the day after the CU and went hunting level 22 Bantha on tatooine. I had pulled out my older rifles, without realizing what level they were. I was a level 23 or 24 at the time and was only getting 2xp...then I figured out that my CDEF Rifle and DLT20 werent gonna cut it and grabbed my E11 rifle..Voila! Lots and lots of XP.

Make sure the weapon you are using is at least CLOSE to your own combat level.

Cheers!

QFE. Soloing is a thing of pre-CU. First things first, do a bazaar search for a better Rifle (the SG82 was still sucky last I saw...go with a DLT20a) and get yourself ot a group. On my server, Tarquinas, there are usually groups running out of the higher end planets (Dantooine). The other thing you might try is check on your server's boards for guilds that are actively recruiting, alot of guilds will have Experince groups running. My guild, Wraith Squadron, have helped numerous new players master full templates in a short period of time just by grouping with them and taking them out.

I just Mastered Rifleman in 3 days From Novice Marksmen on Bria, this is very true, grouping is the way to go.

Now I gotta master ranger

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.
