Thread: Making Money as a Rifleman
It's been a while since we've had one of these threads, so I figured it was time for a new one.
I'm on a quest right now to find what the best missions are for us. So far, I've tried each starter planet, Lok, Dantooine, and Dathomir. Tonight I plan on hitting Endor and Rori.
What I'm doing is trying every possible mission on each planet to learn which mobs baf, aggro, etc. Any information you guys can provide to help me complete this project would be helpful. I'll post a guide to missions once I've got the data compiled.
This only applies to NoviceMarksman and those pursuing the Rifleman profession on Tat (where I grew up
) so take or leave it as you will... once you hit Rifleman, you'll want to move on to bigger game.
Also, I can't recommend highly enough taking up Novice Brawler and a melee profession, either the Unarmed Tree (leading to TKA) or the 2H Sword Tree (leading to Swordsman). The 2.5x damage penalty in melee will get you killed VERY quick... so switch to melee if anything closes with you in PvE.
And BTW, *all* of these missions are much easier now that Suppresion Fire works... I had to do them back when it was broke ![]()
Tatooine...
Very Easy Rifleman Missions: Even a novice with Headshot1 and a decent rifle should do pretty well at these.
Kreetle Lairs (lots of exp two, as you'll spend your timeusing Headshot1 to one shot kill15 or so kreetles on your way to destroying the lair)
Woort Lairs (one shot kills with Headshot1)
SomewhatEasy Rifleman Missions: Headshot1 or Headshot2 with a decent rifle and you're great
Dwarf Nunas (one shot kills with Headshot2, two shot kills with Headshot1)
Diseased Bocatts (these do aggro occasionally when clustered, but they are good newbie exp and die fairly quick)
Tat Medium Rifleman Missions: Headshot2 and a decent rifle required (MIndshot2 a plus)
Zucca Boars (if they aggro, that's why you have that backup melee skill)
Womp Rat Lairs (one shot kills on Lessers should be old-hat now. You should be able to 2-shot kill Womp Rats with Headshot2 and a decent rifle)
Tat Difficult (but rewarding) Rifleman Missions: Headshot2, Mindshot2, and Suppression Fire (plus a brawler skill)
Sycks: Just kill these wankers where you find them. They do aggro and will kill you quick if you let them get close, so use Suppression Fire to slow them down so you can get in one to three Headshot2s (if you're using a Laser, there's a wide damage variation). If they close, switch to melee and finish them.
BTW,Sycks yield 600+ rifle experience per kill, and blowing a lair will net you upwards of 1000. Milking a good wild scyk lair has netted me 7000+ Rifle Experience (killed 9 scyks on the way to blowing the lair) so while it's not Dathomir exp, it's nothing to scoff at.

Dont know where you are in rifleman, but I am at 2/1/0/1 so I have mindshot 2 and suppression fire from marksman tree. I also like hunting on Tatooine and have gotten tons of XP on the larger NON-aggro prey such as Mountain Squills (3300+ XP each)and Banthas (vary) and Mountain Womp Rats (1800+ XP):
I have done the following with NO powerups (but my weapons are sliced for damage):
[laser rifle]... prone at 60m... MS2... MS1...
[switch to Spraystick for speed]... suppression fire every 5 or 6 seconds until target bleeds to death...
There are things that can go wrong, but worst result is i usually get incapped once:
-- If initial Mindshots are WEAK,I try another in between the suppression shots
-- Your mind pool shrinksand you have to rest between kills
-- You should have medic skills and some stimpacks to heal between supression shots because sometimes the targets get to you if you dont time your suppression fire correctly.
Two OFFBEAT notes:
-- If it looks like you might get incapped, run TOWARD the nest so that your target doesn't wander out of range while you're incapped, then bleed to death out of range and you lose the XP. You dont have to be right beside it, but I like to be within 40-50m.
-- Sometimes, if I started with full health and i get GOOD mind bleeds, I INTENTIONALLY let them incap me so I dont use up my MIND bar trying to keep them away!! I usually wake up from incap faster than sitting around afterwards healing my mind! This is risky if you've already been incapped once or twice.
Oops... I guess my first post didn't address the money issue.
I found the following out this last weekend: IF you have not joined a faction yet, go to Anchorhead and run Rebel missions (I was neutral at the time). Mine were Very Easy, paid decent, and weren't too far from town, so I could run more in a shorter time. I got my money up fairly quickly with one friend and I sharing missions. This might work other places too. (Anchorhead is a town on Tatooine)
Basically it was: grab two missions, go a short distance, wipe out the targets fast, ...repeat
1. Head out to Dathomir, get cloned.
2. Unequip your weapon, grab a GBN mission. (GBN missions are the only ones that pay 10k)
3. Head out to the lair, make sure you are able to burst run
4. Load up a ton of overcharge shots on the lair, if the GBNs start chasing you, use your burst run and run circles around the lair while avoiding the GBNs, pretty easy.
I am a 3/0/0/1 Rifleman and I also have Exploration 4 and Hunting 4 (I reccomend both if you're trying to kill anything high level)
Sometimes other creatures will be fighting the GBNs and you won't even have to waste your Burst Run.
You can easily make 150K+ if you run these missions efficiently.
Theres also some nighsister camps missions on darthomir that pay a whopping 19.9K a piece. But they often lead to an empty spot. I think they can be done pretty easy if you spam strafeshot2 or flushing shot 2 and then run like hell...
