I am a wookiee rifleman. I am levelling very slowly--way too slowly. i get killed too much. any suggestions on how to level more quickly?

I am currently 1/0/0/0

I dont use pets because I think they are an abomination to the staw wars universe. I would use a droid but dont know much about them are they useful?

I cant wear armor of course

I use a Bowcaster because I like them. Im not a min/maxer uber power gamer, but Id like to be more effective with what i have. my guns are212-479, 5.5 speed and 130-280, 3.1 speed. i also have a laser rifle and t21 but i dont use those as much.

please post suggestions on good ways to get xp at my level.-i find i get wiped by most mobs on the advanced planets.

A pre-nerf probot is a good tank if you can find one, just carry alot of droid batteries. But hate to tell you it is a pet also. Faction pets are great tanks also if you are an Imp, heard the rebel ones are pretty crummy. But they are moreStarWarsy if that is what youare looking for.

Faction missions sorta scale to your skill level on starter planets. They can be good for exp and you can usually find pick up groups in bigger cities. If you are a wookie, personal shield generators should help alot, but may keep you broke at the same time.

If you insist on soloing without pets, seach for some of wayneinaustin's posts. He posted some good soloing tips/strategies. Doctor is a good profession to be for soloing also, there buffs rock along with the master musician/dancer buffs. If you can get all three at once you are almost a god. Chef food has some buffs also, smugglers dotoo if you don't mind the downers.

well, my advice is to get conceal shot (concealment 1) if you're not going to use pets. with patience, you can take out nearly anything with it.

not having pets means you're number 1 xp accelerator, the aoe shots in the countersniping line, are going to be nearly useless to you unless you're grouped. aoe attacks will aggro everything--without someone or something else to soak up damage, you're hosed.

also, another thing you can do once you get special abilites 1 (flurry shot), is hunt faction NPC's. they love to change posture, so flurry to stick a dizzy, then suppression fire (assuming you have it)to force a posture down. if necessary, retreat out of range to force the target to stand up and chase you. that posture change-up may very well knock him down, and you'll be able to land several high damage shots before he gets back up (if he gets back up).

finally, you can use a warningshot/peace combo to slow already slow moving targets like humbaba's, and kite them. it usually takes 3-4 successful warning shots to slow the target, but you'll notice once you do.

OK, you want to power game exp with a rifle without a pet? That is really hard... stick to Faction Missions because without a pet tanking or a tka or some other player tanking, you reallyhave no chance in monster combat... Riflemen are a support damage class, pets give us that front line to hold them off while we blast away, and when we blast away we do the damage, not the pets...

Get a dmg sliced, dmg modded t21, and spd sliced,, spd modded t21, on most servers I guess an avg t21 is 300-350 damage, so with slice and mod, your looking at 500-600+ damage and teh spd one should be 1.9-4.0. Get a decent set of ham sliced composite or rebel armor... always take cover... then if you don't have conceal shot... use the speed rifle to do flurry1 followed by suppression fire... You use the speed one because it allows you to kd faster... then you switchc targets and do it again and again to all 3-4 imps or rebels at teh mission... make sure flurry hits! and the little swirly mark happens.. then just take shots into the kd'ed backs of the npc's with your dmg one with flurry1 or headshot 2/3 or something equally as devastating. Its safe, fast and pretty much easy...

With the rebel armor on, or a fully ham sliced composite suit, the costs aren't too bad, and take cover bonuses give you extra defense so taking fire from a couple npc's in factionmissions is easy... however, tuskens and nym will eat you if you try this...

If you have conceal you avoid this entire situation... just conceal shot...

If you have a tanker... be it a droid, pet, or faction pet or player...

Get FLURRY 2!! Assist tanker... make sure everything in the mob is on the tanker... then hit Flurry 2 or another Area of Effect attack, you will destroy everything usually without them notcing they are dying fast...

The reason why pets are so popular for riflemen is because finding a tka who doesn't want to get experience is hard... we destroy more or less all 5 enemies in 5 shots that have 10k ham, with flurry 2 with a t21 with a dmg slice and dmg mods...

Pets don't have these hang ups...

get speed sliced weapons since lack of speed is your main problem at low level and ironicaly too much speed is your problem at master heh. but what a nice one to have.

i prefer a low ham E11 to a laser and a T21 to both.

since your not a pet user i can tell you from experience that the current probe droids are not good enough to control large violent creatures and they can only be healed over time. dont waste creds on em.

join a hunting group and concentrate on using bleeds and headshots and work up the speed as much as possible. since your not a pet user using AOE attacks is pretty much right out in a group. what happens is that there is always some moron that will start attacking the lair or send a pet on it and one will spawn in front of you and not having a pet to send after it will ensure your death when you use your AOE attack.

i would suggest getting HS2 ASAP stack MS1 and 2 and climb the accuracy sniping tree. this is of course unless you change your mind and use pets then go right for flushing2. use ur T21 for the bleeds since it is more likely to give a high damage bleed than a laser. this will ensure you get most of the XP. at your level you should be able to outdamage any two other players. it only gets better as you go up.

until you get a little speed low level rifle is PAINFUL. but the reward at master is well worth it.

I'm a wookie rifleman like you. My advice? Go get a nice damage sliced spraystick. Then pick up a crate of Breath of heaven and the food version (that alsodoes focus/str/quickness). Join a large group on Dant or Lok, and take a dose of both foods/drinks before every fight (maybe 2x the food). Then spam the Novice rifleman attack. Using both of the foods/drinks, you should be able to spam novice rifleman attacks for very little mind cost. If the fight lasts longer than the food (food is ~5 minutes, BoH is usually ~8min). Start mixing regular attacks in with your specials. If the battle lasts longer than 8 minutes, go back to standard attacks.

Levelto countersniping 3. Start using Flushing1 when you get it, but get flushing2 asap. Once you hit this, you should be able to get 100k xp per hour or so. AOE rocks. Just watch it when your target is too close to the lair.

You can level to 2-2-2-2 rather quickly wit a T21, HS 2, and Tattered Torton Missions on Rori.

1-2 Shots and 1K XP per MOB

I didn't use a pet until I was 2 boxes from master. I took out myATST told it to attack a snorbal lair then used flushing shot 2 with my T21. They never attacked me and I got 55,000 rifle exp in about 3 minutes. The ATST never stopped shooting the lair.

Oh before I used the pet I took imperial missions. Iput bleeds on all of them and waited for them to go prone. If they don't go prone use that position down special in the marksman tree can't remember the name.They normal just lay there and die while you are at 75m. The other thing I did was hit them with Flurry Shot 2 (aoe dizzy). When they go prone they all fall down. It's funny to walk up to 5 NPCs shoot them then watch them fall down all at once and get shot to death. Flushing shot 2 (aoe position up + stun) works ok with doctor buffs and take cover. They seem to miss alot since they have to stand losing accuracy modifiers.

With the attitude of you not liking pets, then you cant expect to level rifleman as fast as those who use pets. Its gonna be a LONG ROAD even if you get conceal shot. Also you better knock of the dust on that T21 and Laser Rifle as those are probrably the two key weapons to use to level rifleman as well as the most used weapons by riflemans.

I have a Master Wookiee Rifleman on Naritus. I know you do not want to hear this. Not having a pet or a group to hunt with is going to be a very long hard road to plow up toMaster Rifleman. The Bowcaster is fine against unarmored critters but sucks butt when you start leveling on the tougher planets against armored critters. The main problem you face is getting melee mobbed. You could go two-handed sword for back up as it also does mind based damage. The T-21 does nice damage and so does a laser-rifle. Use damage powerups, speed powerups, and wound powerups. The guy above that recommended the speed and damage sliced/poweruped T-21s is right on, this combo works well for laser too. But if you hunt solo suck in your pride and go creature handler 1/1/0/0 and get yourself a Greater Sludge Panther. I have a Master Rifle / Master Scout / 0-0-4-0 Ranger withMedic skills. I tried to go without a pet and it was simply to darn frustrating as I hunt solo 95% of the time. I climbed the up four blocks insniping accuracy first then filled in the rest evenly. I love the T-21 with stock attachment for Wounding in PvP then use a laser for headshots. I use a jawa-ion on armored players. I seldom use the pet in PvP prefering to kite my opponents stack on bleeds then headshots.
