I use a rock beetle myself, anything that would be better?

mountain krevol,, light armor and 30% kenetic resists,, makes a better tank when hunting.,

Dalyrake Harvester is the best nonCH pet right now, hands down. Doesn't matter much though, since the maximum pet level for a nonCH to control is going to be lowered from 15 to 10.

I have tested the Dalyrake Harvester against a rock beetle, a mountain krevol, and a cowardly gurreck as well, and it wins every fight because it has the intimidate attack special.

However since your question was best nonCH pet for a Rifleman, I'd actually go with a cowardly gurreck or even a normal wrix (if you want something cheaper). They are both cats, so they run much faster than any of the insect type pets. When you're laying prone shooting and notice something coming for you, you need your meat shield to get back to you quick to intercept it. Neither will be able to fight as long for you though.
