So as a riflman I guess I shouldnt be wearing advanced Ubese armor eh?

To answer the question - yeah, any hit to your mind substats is going to hurt - but then, so will getting whomped when you're not wearing armour. Ways around this including doc/entertainer buffs, spices, and food; stat migration (to an extent); getting several suits of armour and getting them sliced til you get a set with decent encumbrance slices; and limiting your special use until you need to really bust out the damage (not really an option at below-master speed, I admit). Also worth popping powerups on your guns that reduce mind cost.

At the very least, leave off the helmet unless you're PvPing. That'll help...

i just rely on HS3 to take the other person out before i suffer any real damage. dont let anyone or anything inside 20 meters of you and you will do fine.

For pve, not pvp, you can use an armor macro... i have 2 macros... 1 to put my armor on, 1 to put my cloths on... when something gets within 30m, I hit the macro, wear my ubese and blast awaay with my rifle... helps cut down costs...
