I'm trying to concoct a possible template, and wondered if I should include 14 extra points for the Ranged Support line - and if so, how come?

Thanks!

Supression fire is the only useful skill in that tree, some say aim also. Neither of which you need.

Or if you want you can grab ranged support so you can snag combat medic, it's what I'm doing.

I am just starting out and once I got the ranged support, it helped me out alot. I dont use aim but I do use suppression fire, warning shot and threaten shot. I am kinda thinkin that once you get good enough to go hunt on harder planets, that these may not be as usefull because in the descriptions of the specials, some of them say that they are effective on skidish creatures. None of those specials probably work with something like rancors, but soloing things like dire cat lairs and carrion spats they are very effective in keeping the enemy at a distance.

I recently gave up the ranged support line to put my skill points to better use. Getting master brawler for the KD attack

I'm already capped on ranged/melee defense, never could get suppresionfire to work in PvP more than once, and kill most creatures before needing to warningshot them anyway.

I think if you are master I think the points can be put to better use elsewhere, some of the skills are useful but not really that great.

Personally I dropped ranged support for Scout 1/0/0/0, the terrain negotiationmakes it easier for me to kite and run away in pvp

I also sometimes switch to novice brawler whichisvery handy for warcry and intimidate.

I am a doc/rifleman, those 18 points left can be quite handy to switch and change as I need them for certain situations, as the initial profession trainers are usually quite easy to get to if the need arises to switch the points around.

/warningshot is vital at n00b levels. I switched out all support later on for a bit of a guard-dog in case a hunt goes to crap. At master it seems wasted SP used, tumble-to is useless except for your novice doc friend, /aim is too slow really, /warningshot and /threatenshot won't work at the class level you are operating on and I never, ever, seen suppression actually be useful in PvP and in PvE itis wasted time (my bread and butter is made by concealing-prone and getting as many shots off before detection as possible - more efficient for hunting).

That is an awsome quote Fred!

I would add achieved by complacent consent. To be resisted by the middle finger as well!

I just gave it up not too long ago and have enjoyed using the novice brawler skills (warcry, intimidate) and doing quick switches between scout and artisan. I do miss suppression sometimes (I used it a lot to get distance from TK types), but haven't missed it too much... just my .02 cents

I think it's great I was playing around with suppresion fire last night and was able to dizzy kd a few guildes with flurry shot and supression fire 1. Think I'll keep ranged support for a while.
