Thread: Peko Peko Albatross... is it me or is something broken?

First off, lemme say that me and 4 other guildies killed 3 of them and we actually got a feather for my MAS account. (w00t!).

First one encountered... fully buffed, and jacked up on brandy I charge out to meet my prey. I figure ConcealShot should do me just fine. I have my +85@60m DXR-6 Rifle out so I can do as much damage as possible. I planned to spam ConcealShot and just lay in the grass. NOPE! Here is comes and BANG I am dead.

Second time... same Peko. Get buff. Upset that I lost my mental buffs, but trying to be good-natured about it. We all attack it and one of our BE pets is tanking for us. Hit Strafeshot2. BANG dead again... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Evidently, your NPC prey will go after who ever does the most amount of damage first. It will bypass any tank you have since they are limited on damage, unlike us (sorta). Conceal shot obviously didn't work and don't bother with Warningshot. That drains the heck out of your mind pool and only works 1 in about 6 times. Strafeshot2 will call attantion away from tanks so forget that. Mindbleeds you say? Worthless unless there are multiple Rifleman stacking and everyone is spamming headshots. Didn't they take out bleed stacking? AND... when we did stack Mindbleeds (or so I thinkwe did), I was the only Master Rifleman so I did the most damage. Once the bleed hit.... BANG dead again. LMAO. Kinda funny now. Wasn't then.

So here was my strategy... Heal everyone in the group as best I could and don't do any specials and run around like an idiot. *yawn* Isn't that thrilling? lol

first mistake trusting a CH that is probably using a BE pet that has the health bar maxed and the other two sacrificed for damage with no thought given to attack speed and hit chance all rolled into a kimo skin....

when i see someone pull a pet taht has like 11k health 6k action and 3k mind and damage range in the 500+ category i just laugh and wonder how they survive in the world

when hunting big game you should also realize taht the thing will go after whomever damaged it last. total damage of a single shot has no bearing. that is why a fast striking pet that has a good hit % is far far far more important than pet damage. pets do so little damage in PVE and PVP that it just astounds me that people waste time and effort on a pet template trying to raise pet damage. but anyway you were probably registering more frequent hits than your friends and their pet.

tip: when something is chasing you, stop shooting... this increases your chances of the thing losing interest and your surviving its attentions. (this applies only if your fairly certain you cant kill it before it reaches you)

Nope, I didn't take cover or Mask scent. I'll try that next time. Also, from reading the boards, I should have also thrown in a /peace every few shots. Next time I know.

As for the BE pet. I am not sure about it. It's a CL40 Gurreck so I have no idea. The same guy made me a CL40 Durni (Named Fluffy), so I will see what kind of stats are on it. I am sure they are similiar. I'll also pass on the info to him. He is always looking for ways to improve his pets.

As for who did the most damage and how fast... I am sure I did. With the DXR-6 I have, it's speed is 5.7 and I am a Master Rifleman so I am pretty sure I was going as fast as I possibly can (special every 1 second?). The CH is a Rifleman, but I am not sure how high up he is. I know he isn't a Master. The other Combatant was a Master Pistoleer. It was fun to say the least and pretty cool to get a couple guys from my PA to do something other then raise funds for our city.

BTW, if you plan to screw up as much as I did... make sure you have a Master Doc available like we did. The Albatross DBs very fast and will rarely leave you alone before DBing. Also, it would attack him (The Master Doc)even though he specifically wasn't grouped nor attacking. Kinda funny to see a Master Doc/Master Musician kicking a Giant Peko Peko Albatross. LMAO

a gurreck in the wild is CL50

so yeah its a BE pet and probably one geared like i described. my CL52 gurreck i use for krayting is LA 60%kinetic and 80% in just about all the other stats 11k ham across the board with the fastest attack speed and highest hit modifiers a pet can have. i almost NEVER get attacked when i send him after a creature even standing next to him healing he holds a monster that well.
