Thread: new info on block from Keldarin

Hey Guys,
I was lurking in the Pikeman boards (I'm going pikeman for some new fun) and saw this post by Gunman

it doesn't say much, but supposedly Keldarin knows there's something wrong with it.
Also, something I was wondering, with our new "to-hit" modifier, will that also negate our "block" defense? Granted I've been a master rifleman for awhile and haven't seen myself block anything, but that to-hit makes the melee defense pretty worthless, so I was wondering if it is also going to bypass any block defense? Any ideas?

I've noticed I've been counterattacking more than anything since last pub... at least that's what it says in the spam..

this is posted elsewhere on the boards.
block works, but is reported to you as a counterattack.
duel a friend.. have him shoot at you with a cdef a bunch of times.. any time you get a "you counterattack" message, he should get a "you shoot at soandso, but he blocks it" message.

I dueled a pikeman yesterday, unbuffed. He blocked four of my five shots and I didn't counterattack/block/dodge any of his attacks. Master pike has +115 block, master rifle has +70. I also duelled a pistoleer while buffed and didn't counterattack/block/dodge anything. Conclusion: rifleman block is not working at all.

I think this means having only 70 Block is ineffective, where if we had 115 we would be doing whatever the hell it's doing now, more often.

If 115 block fires off that often, then 70 block should have done something at least once in those two duels.
If someone did rifle/pikeman I bet they'd find that they block at the same rate as a pure pikeman and that the +block from rifle wasn't contributing at all.

Heheh, yep. I Counterattack and Dodge more than I Block. And I don't have those. I've done several tests having people just shoot away at me.
Although another Rifleman did Block a Snipershot the other day, pretty funny. But it DB'd him anyway. I've had defense stackers that took 5 or6 snipershots to DB. I think they need to fix defenses on incap. I guess it only applies to Snipershot, but still.
