A quickie; Obvisouly min & max damage I understand and the disctances +/- modifyer also...But.....Is the speed of the weapon better to be higher e.g. 6 or lower e.g. 2?

Having read these forums there seem to be some conflicting answers.

Lower.

On the weapons stats: lower.

In your skill list: higher.

TheSpeed of a weapon tells you "How long you must wait before you can fire it again". So LOWER IS BETTER.

Now, with that in mind, also make note of the following: The ACTUAL REAL TIME rate of fire of your weapon is based on several things other than just theSpeed yousee when examining the weapon stats. The actual firing rate of the weapon is a calculation that is based on ALL of the following things:
-- The weapon speed you mention
-- Your characters "rifle speed" attribute (the HIGHER the better for this one).. a number usually from 0-95
-- The actual shots you are firing.

To elaborate on the above points:
Your character gets a "rifle speed"attribute (0-95 without skill tapes) that gets better as you march up the rifle tree. The higher the better. By the time you hit Master Rifle, you should have a +90 or +95 rifle speed attribute. To see it while in the game, press CTRL-S and look on the left side for your personal modifiers.

If you are shooting "specials" (any shot OTHER THAN normal auto-fire) then each special has a delay multiplier associated with it. This means that when you fire a "Head Shot 3" for example, you have to rest an additional amount of time before you can fire another shot. The better the shot, the higher the delay multiplier. There are tables somewhere in this forum that have the delay multiplier for all rifle shots. (I know becauseSeflyn andI posted them all a long time ago).

That's enough for now. That should give you an idea of all the things that go into how fast your weapon fires. It's base speed is just one thing.
