Thread: Would Like Link to Klaw's Post Confirming That Our Speed Cap Is Not Going to 3 Seconds
OK, so we don't really know. The rumor sparked by the 45-minute window into the correspondent's forums still sounds valid to me.
Hope they don't do it, after carbineer adjustments (which I approve of, btw), it would make rifleman worst of the big three gun classes - 1. Pistoleer, 2. Carbineer, 3. Rifleman.

Lol pike would be awful. (With full buffs and armour it's not TOO bad atm, that doesn't mean it doesn't need some love though.)

just to chime in...
I'd rather they adjust pistols and give them dual wield and then leave the rest of us the h3ll alone, speed wise. 3 second cap would kill my hunting... I would switch to a better "tool" to use for hunting. After all this work to get parity I don't think I have it in me to fight for several monthsto regain being able to survive on Dathomir when everyone else can (except maybe poor Pikeman. Please devs, give them some help... they all got those sad, sad, puppy-dog eyes...).

Well there is no reason to ONLY speed cap rifles, you either want there to be a speed difference between the professions or you don't, there are plenty of other ways to reduce damage.
Here is what a speed cap would mean:
Using the Dev's proposed caps from Sept of Pistol being 0.5 and rifle being 3.
Pistol Stopping shot can do 2500 (At least when I used it) plus I understand smuggler specials are better.
For DPS to be the same you take 2500 * 6 = 15000. Yes, rifles would get a special doing 15k per hit in order to make the DPS the same between the two professions then. Using DPS because that seems to be argument for the speed caps

While that does seem like a good idea, logical and simple, there is a flaw with it. That will give "rifleman olny" players a +80 to speed. The hard core will master marksman, of course, and get +85. The remaining +15 will be gotten with skill tapes, enhancers, etc. In effect you will be slowingmost of riflemen, but the people that most have a problem with will not be affected by that change. This will only hinder casual players who don't go all out and do nothing to heavy PvPers.
