Thread: the benefits and disadvantages to riflemen
I have been a rifleman for a while now and I must say in certain situations rifleman is awsome but in others ur screwed. These are just some suggestions and my opinions on this profession.
Advantages:
1. Head shot, its unhealable and great against people with low mind or medics on a battlefield.
2. heavy dmg and long range capabilities make ot great for getting a PC trying to get away with a little life left.
Disadvantages:
1. The rfile is crappy as hell at close range and is useless in duels. The best bet to hit a PC is to get them before they get to close and use supression shot.
2: the rifle tends to miss way to much, at least when u need it the most
3: the HAM cost is BS, I can barely kill a PC without having to watch for my mind bar.
MY SUGGESTIONS AND COMPLAINTS
complaints:
1) rifles need to be upped in dmg because usually u cant kill a person before they get to you and then your screwed.
2)the T21 has yet to come out on shadowfire which is tickin me off
3)we dont have a knockdown attack and our bleed atatck is barely affective, we should get a attack like knowckdown maybe call it "trip up" or somthin
Suggestions:
1) up the damage on all rifles
2) give rifles a knockdown shot
3) bring the t21 to shadowfire
4) make master filemen ammune to knockdown to give people who spam it a challange
these are just a few suggetions but this profession is supposedly the most deadly ranged, thats a load of bs its nerfed like thiers no tommarow.
Whoa, you're asking for too much:
Complaints 1: You're asking to be an uber class that can kill anything before they reach you, (pistoleers). You just need to implement some techniques. Use different special shots like suppression or warning, or flurry then startle, kiting, bursting.
Complaints 3: Do you REALLY want knockdown (Pistoleers)? We have ways to incurr a makeshift knockdown (Flurry + Startle), which is kind of rewarding when it works because you know you pulled something that not just any ol' pistoleer could do.
Disadvantages 1: They don't need to get close enough to fire suppression, it can be fired from 64M (pistoleers)
Disadvantages 2: I've had moments with my rifles when it seems like some Pistoleer Game-master is controlling my accuracy and making me miss every single shot, and there is also those other moments which feels like im free from the evil clutches of the warped accuracy modifiers of pistoleers and I actually hit!.
Disadvantages 3: I believe that they should really decrease the HAM costs SLIGHTLY, by 10-20. Something reasonable but doesn't make us the BEST class over all of them, like pistoleers.
Suggestions 1: I believe the damage that we deal is fine, we deal more damage than most classes, except commando, this is not considering DPS, which we should be beat at. The long time stereotype of rifles, as an average citizen,is that they are incredibly accurate at long distances (*ahem, pistoleers [Dev's, why?]), they deal tremendous damage but at the cost of speed, if attempted to fire it faster more than likely it will be inaccurate unless you are skilled.
Suggestions 2: I think it is quite unique that we don't have knockdown, I dunno why, but it makes me proud to be where I am (not master, thats for sure) with out using easy-to-gain-victory shots.
Suggestions 3: Correct me if im wrong, because im not in shadowfire, but im pretty sure T21 isn't the only weapon missing in that server. It's all about resource shifts and availability.
Suggestions 4: That's just silly, that'll piss off alot of people, including people without knockdowns, because that's just a rediculous request. That's exactly like saying, "Why don't pistoleers have an immunity to mind damage to give people who spam headshot and eyeshot a challenge." Oh, and Master Rifleman already own the scene if they fight, its just rare to see a master Rifleman.
Advantage 2: I thought this was funny because you mentioned long ranged capabilities, which actually everyone has (pistoleers). Unfortunately, we all have the same range.
And finally, for your last paragraph, where in the world did you hear that? Maybe in real life it is like that, but in games they can't makeANY profession the most deadliest specifically, period. But from my experience, theprofessionI worry about the mostis BH (one of the most popular class), since if im caught unaware overt and wandering he would just come up and knock me down, then proceed to jam his pistol up my ass tillI die(Not going to mention pistoleers). Rifleman are on the brink of balance, there are a few touch-ups here and there they have to make, duringwhich they will screw more things up and end up having to make more fix ups.
When I first started playing (2 days after it came out) Rifleman was my goal, and I was pissed once I got it, but then I realized that I was subconsciously expecting to become the best class there is in this game, once I thought about balance I have molded into harmony with this profession and am satisfied now with what we have. I have realized my inner Zen, lol, nah. Challenge wise we are not the profession with the most challenging difficulty curve, we have a 2.5x melee damage modifier with rifle equipped, which means we can't be like pistoleers and just stand in one spot shooting accurately at a target 67m (it's possible) all the way until 0m. Im glad its not as easy to become Master at this profession than it is like OTHER professions (*ahem....pist...ack, you get the point)
Just my 2cents of thought, hope you don't get all mad and flustered like most people when they read other people's opinions on their thoughts, because I write all of this in a neutral fashion, not pissed off, lol.
Most of us as players have a biased opinion of their own class, and for all of those who is reading this if you can't admit that you have a biased opinion on your own class even occasionally, then you're a child.
Also due to lack of knowledge of other professions, as playerswe always complain of how other professions have it soooo easy while we have it the hardest, while not actually knowing how hard it is to play as that other profession (Including myself, /grrrrrrr).
People will always find reason why one profession can do this and that and how another profession can't do that, but can do this and thus it's overpowered.
