Hi all. I just dont have the points to master rifle. I have enough points to master one line, expert one line and do one box in one line so something like 1/0/4/3 or 1/3/0/4 What would you all suggest?

If you're going to be doing PvP you really want to go master Rifleman. But I thik the best PvP setup with those points would be to take sniping to tier 4. For ranged deathblow and accuracy. then special abilities to tier 3 for speed. and then one box in countersniping.

For PvE i would take sniping to Tier1 for the ability to lay down 2 mind DoTs. then special abilities to tie 4 to get some speed. and then take countersniping to the third box.

i havent PvPed too much so there might be a better set upf or PvP. not sure. From what ive heard Pvping is hard as a rifleman if your not a master.

It depends a great deal on what you intend to do once you have those skills. If you intend to PvP more or less exclusively, you almost certainly want Sniping 4 for Sniper shot. if you're a bit more mixed, you probably want to go for Flushing2 for a high-damage AE attack. Flurry2 is a good idea in both PvE and PvP if you're going to be grouped with someone who can provide an AE posture change (down) or an AE KD (basically, carbine). Rifle speed is always good.

Still, the best advice IMO if you're not intending to master rifle is to take pistol or carbine (probably pistol). Pistol is the most effective weapon at lower levels of the elite class, and rifle is very weak until master. Carbines are fairly effective because they provide a nice array of AE attacks at a higher DPS than rifle until master level. Rifle just has too many disadvantages for it to be useful at a part-spec, relatively speaking.

Rifleman isn't worth it unless mastering IMO.

I would have to say both carbine and pistol (Well for now, pistols might get a nerf soon)are better to dabble in than rifleman. Rifleman only truely shines at master.

Yes, if you read the rifleman forum a lot, you'll notice that every single argument we make is countered by "but strafe2 is awesome".

Strafe2 is a Master Rifleman skill.

Therefore, unless you are going to get Strafe2, it isn't worth your while to be a rifleman.

Honostly, if you want to do mind damage, you're better off getting Eyeshot in the BH tree. It does mind damage at a rapid rate and uses your action pool, so you can do a lot more Eyeshots than you can do Headshots, and you do it with a pistol which means if something hits you with melee it won't hurt that much.

Until you hit Master, rifles have only disadvantages. Even our one real advantage (mind damage) is trumped by the BH skill which does the same thing, only better.

I don't recommend riflemen for dabblers. At low levels you are at a serious dissadvantage. However if you have the skill point I'd distribute them as such

4/0/0/4

You get speed & accuracymods plus you get flury shot.
