I just posted here a few days after browsing (what the point of that is, I don't know). I have progressed in rifle to IV on 2 of the branches, combat and the first one. I'm frustrated, I'll be honest. My friend is a pistoleer, and does more damage than I do at range, and that's very frustrating. Why wouldn't I pick up pistoleer? My initial thought, while going rifle, was that I could use my pets (yes, I use pets) to tank while I go from a long range. But why does a pistoleer do the same, and more, damage than me, from 60M out?? I don't understand, and I'm getting more and more frustrated. Seriously, it makes no sense. They have faster speed, and they suffer basically no range penalties. And frankly, some of the specials are **edit** for rifle, while my pistol-friend gets nice specials. I just feel like giving it up and switching to pistol.

Before the flames start, please don't rip on the fact that I use pets, I stated in another thread I think it's lame. I used to be TK--I gave that up because they were as equally useless as Rifle seems to be.

The way things work now, riflemen are very inferior to pistoleers at novice, and very superior at master. It's pretty frustrating for those levelling rifle, but that's pretty much how it is. Even when you're 4-4-4-3 rifle you'll find pistol to be generally more useful.

Maybe not inferior, but different than pistoleers.

I went to Lok with 2 friends, a pistoleer and a TKA, we came to a mission that had a mercenary commander and 2 merc destroyers, the plan was to put pets on the destroyers and kill the commander first. Well they went after the commander and after it was dead they asked over game voice where the two destroyers were, I just said "dead".

The next night we attacked some pirates who were using melee specials for 1200 damage and would deathblow as soon as you dropped. They both died being so close to melee, I sent my pet in from range 50+, killed the pirate, finished the camp for the money, and ran back to town to meet up with them.

Are we uber? no. Am I uber? no.I drain my mind bar every fight and I am a full mental stat zabrak, my pet is always on guard because I get dropped in 1-2 hits from anything in melee, and if I don't use my specials constantly I do get the short end of the exp. But we do have our moments.
