Hi All

Very new to the game and to the forums. I am wanting to know what armourI should be looking for as a novice rifleman grinding my way to MBH, MR, CM 4000.

I suggest that you read the FAQ. It covers armor fairly thoughly now with the latest update.

To answer the OP's question, riflemen are certified for recon armor. This includes Mabari, Tantel, Ubese, Ithorian Guardian, Kashyyykian Ceremonial, and Factional. If you are often in grind groups with much higher cl players, you will probably never need armor. This is because you are not doing close to the damage they are, and will not grab aggro unles you heal or shoot first. BE clothes with the melee/ranged bonuses are much more helpful in these situations. If you are dual-professions you can use two types of armor. Battle armor is a good general armor with better kinetic resistance at the cost of losing a minor amount of energy resist. Doctor, combat medic, carbineer are just three examples of professions that can use battle armor. I believe ranger can as well.

If you plan to use cybernetic arms, then you cant wear all of these different chest pieces- like Ubese. Tantel will work with cyber arms....not sure about the rest. Head and legs can be anything.

everything but the highlight section is in the faq ^_-

good answer though (mind if I steal it for a future update to the faq?)

If anything I say helps the rifleman community in any way, use it. if not, then let it drift off into the nether regions called page 2+.

Not all FAQs are created equal though. For example, after searching through one crafting profession's FAQ fora question I thought should be answered there, I found it wasn't. Followed some external links that looked promosing, and didn't find my answer either. Tried the search function, to find it still broken. Posted a question, and got several "Read the FAQ" replies, but finally an answer to my question.

Sorrythe riflefaq is pretty comprehensive so it really does pay to read it here

*rules for addition to it*

  1. If the question is asked more then

    1. 3 times in a week

    2. 7 times in a month

    3. 20 times in a 3 month period

  2. If it is a piece of information that is important to the operation of the profession

  3. If it heads off a question before it is asked

  4. all the above have to relate in some direct way to rifleman

The armor one fell under the 1.1 provision ^_-
