General Summary: The Rifleman can significantly reduce the amount of Aggro received by Maintaining Cover, which is done by maintaining range to target. This is not going to be very fast, becasue moving under Cover is slow. The Rifleman will have the option of using other Abilities besides Conceal Shot while under Cover, but at an increased risk of Breaking Cover. If a non-Conceal Shot ability is used, range and time between shots determine the chance of Breaking Cover. Nothing prevents the Rifleman from shooting too soon, so Player Patience and judgement will be needed to successfully maintain Cover.
1. Rifleman x1xx grants Cover, x3xx grants Improved Cover, and Master Rifleman grants Advanced Cover
2. Conceal Shot NEVER BREAKS COVER.
3. Improved Cover allows the use of ANY Improved Ability (from any ranged profession), with a significant chance of Breaking Cover (see below).
4. Advanced Cover allowsthe use of ANY Advanced Ability (from any ranged profession), with a mild chance of Breaking Cover (see below).
5. If Range to target < 40 meters then only Conceal Shot can maintian Cover. It is suggested that the Range to Target be increased.
6. If Range to target >= 65 meters and Player has anything that extends the weapon Range into that region, then any shot allowed by the Cover skill level will not Break Cover
7. Between 64 and 40 meters, the chance of a shot breaking cover is as follows:
Advanced Abiity Improved Ability
64 to 60 meters 5% 15%
59to55 meters 10% 30%
54 to 50 meters 15% 45%
49to45 meters 20% 60%
44 to 40 meters 25% 75%
8. For NPCs and Critters, each percentage point equals the number of seconds between shots that should seperate shots in order for the Target to not discover the Covered Rifleman. See examples below
Example1: If Master Rifleman uses an Advanced shot/ability on a Non-Player Target that is 53 meters away, there is a 15% chance Cover will be Broken. If ANY shot is fired before 15 seconds, the Target will discover the Rifleman.
Example 2: Someone with Rifleman x3xx uses an Improved shot/ability on a Non-Player Target that is 53 meters away. There is a 45% chance that the shot itself will Break Cover. If ANY shot is fired before 45 seconds, the Target will discover the Rifleman.
Example 3: A Rifleman x2xx Uses Cover and fires Conceal Shot on a Non-Player Target that is any distance in range of the Rifle. Conceal Shot isn't the most powerful shot in the game, but unless the Target accidentally moves close enough to discover the Rifleman, the Rifleman is free to fire Conceal Shot again without fear of Breaking Cover
