Hi. I'm thinking this combination: Flame IV in the commando tree, TKM, and some rifle tree for those mind shots at range.. And I'm wondering.. What tree to get? the trees for the mind shots? or the tree for melee defense + speed? Aww... just tell me what will be most beneficial

truth?? ill give ya that. rifle is usless for PVP outside of master. with the notable exception of snipershot which gives a ranged deathblow depending on how useful you think that is.

if you take the abilities line you get nice speed in a 4.0-5.0 weapon but crappy accuracy outside of PVE.

if you take the accuracy line you get good accuracy but crappy speed and are stucking using spraysticks which are worthless in PVP and PVE.

if you take the countersniping tree you have a nice block rating but only when holding a rifle and rifles allow the enemy to hit you pretty much everytime. useful?? probably not.

if you take the concealment line you get conceal shot and ranged mitigation while holding a rifle.

take as pieces there isnt much to offer but rolled into a whole at master it is a VERY good skillset. unfortunately all the other combat masteries do not work like rifle.

My Jawa rifle doesn't do much of damage now, and its slow aswell.. So I was thinking, 'get some rifleman skills to improve etc'..

Apparantly, thats not the way to do it

So, what would be your suggestion of a ranged proffesion, when I can only afford one tree?

If you have TK and Commando skills, that gives you close and medium close range attacks. Thus, you are looking for rifle primarily to deal with people you cannot reach or reach accuratly when they run. Rifle is a good choice for that, but as the previous poster said, you will find that rifles are slow until Master. Most do not recommend relying on rifle in PvP until Master level. Since you are using it as a backup, you are not so much relying on it as using it for support, and that is a different matter.

The key for you will be speed. Therefore, I would go up the Rifle Special Abilities line as fars as I can (all combat XP, though). That is where the speed comes from. One added benefit is that it will give you extra melee defense, too. You also get both Flurryshot specials from this line. Flurryshot1 does dizzy and Flurryshot2 does dizzy and is area effect.

Accuracy will come from the Sniping line, as will Snipershot (Sniping IV) for a ranged DB, and Headshot3 (3x damage mind attack). The most damaging shot without out Master will be Flushingshot2 (4x damage modifier, random pool). It is also area attack. This is obtained at Countersniping III. Go up this line if you want accuracy and if you want to get Snipershot. I would not go for it because of Headshot3 because Headshot2 will be a better choice for you to use (faster and much lower HAM costs, with only a slight reduction in damage).

Right now, speed is your biggest enemy. Get weapons with speed slices and speed powerups. Since you are never going to really threaten the speed cap unless you go all the way to Master Rifleman, you will need to stay with this strategy. Get the best rifles you can, then get them speed sliced and drop a Speed/Mind Reduction powerup on it. Then use the rifle to deal with people at range only when they are trying to get away from you or you are trying to get away from them.

So you are suggesting speed + melee tree?
Or the Accurary and sniping tree?
hmmm... could you make things a bit more clear?
Or does all this depends on what skill tapes etc I can afford?

The thing I'm planning to do is (pvp style):
Firstly I'm going to bring out my flamer, and give my enemy a nice lasting burn DOT, then I'm going to switch to tka (assuming I'm in range) and Dizzy+KD, if I have time, lol.
Then I'll run away, when my enemy is knocked down, and use mind shots from far away with my jawa ion / or some other really nice rifle gun ( suggestions? )
How does this look? What tree would be nice for this?
Thanks for answers

I guess the biggest question is how many points do you have to spend?

If I could only go up one tree, I would go up the Special Abilities tree. Greater accuracy is nice, but speed is going to be critical. I could take a 7 second T21, get it speed sliced and put a speed powerup on it, and get it down to 3.9 speed. If I went up the Accuracy line (Rifleman 4 0 0 0), I would get only a +35 to speed (counting what I get from Master Marksman) and that would mean I would fire Headshot2 at 4.4 seconds per shot. If I went, instead up the Special Abilities line (Rifleman 0 0 0 4), I would fire that same shot at 1.7 seconds per shot. That is 2.6 times as fast. It also means you could miss 2 out of 3 times and still do as much damage as you do with the better accuracy.

To boost accuracy, I can go prone, use /Aim, eat certain foods, or take the Dead Eye serum as well as look for SEAs. But the only way to boost speed (other than what we have already done) is to get rifle speed SEAs. Also, you can onlyadd +25 to any skill through SEAs, so the best you could ever hope for with Speed if you went with the Accuracy line is to get to +60. Add that to the +75 from the speed line and you can fire any weapon at the speed cap.

If you can only go up one tree, go speed. As stated, it will also add +40 to melee defense, which carries over for when you are using something other than a rifle.

Thanks. you've been of great help.

What rifle do you suggest I use?

Since I'm probably doing the speed tree, I'll need an accurary gun ( DXR-6? ).

Or should I use the T21 for nice good damage to mind.

Or the Jawa Ion ? For those nice stun shots.
