Thread: Is a melee profession needed if Master Rifleman?
At Master - go prone, dummy
I can usually kill 28k HAM Nightsisters and stuff before they reach me
But, to really mix it up, throwing Fencer into the mix is a mean lil combo.
...and then there's CM.../slap CM/Riflemen
I found when I was just Master Rifleman that I ended up being at a disadvantage in caves and other close quarters. I picked up TKA at that point because I liked the notion of martial arts - then found out later that it's probably the combination that gives the highest final ranged and melee defence numbers (aside from multi-profession dabbling of course). Can't hurt you if they don't hit you ![]()
Gaming the system aside - I think it's very reasonable to pick up a melee class. Swordsman looks like a fun combo too.
master rifleman/master swordsman, fencer 3000, pistoleer 0040
you'll be an offensive power house plus near capped melee and ranged dand a lot of defense vs. x. or you could replace the fencer and pistoleer with medic or scout to make yourself more versitle.

Or change the 0040 Pistoleer to 0040 Medic. This way you can solo anything in the game if you have decent equipment. You'll miss some def vs. x but imo it's worth it to be able to heal yourself for 1000+ HAM every 5 seconds.

ranged = 143
both nice and capped...
def vs dizzy +90
def vs KD +100
def vs blind +90
def vs stun +50
def vs posture change +100
dodge = 125 - capped
hit em with jawa then when you really cant kite em anymore, let the stun baton finish the job.
Not tried this, but looks pretty solid on paper... Any ideas? Input?
Hmm Im thinking of taking master rifle/TK 4/3/0/4 Fencer 0/4/4/0 and Pike 0/0/4/0
I'm thinking the pike for the sweep 2 (area KD) with a nice mind poison lance.
The other melee for defence and meditate also up close attacks. pike also boosts Block up to +165 (cap 125) I get +75 dizzy, +90 KD dodge 90 (if using fencer) melee def 132 (cap 125) ranged def capped 125, Blind def +80 intim 20 stun 45.
also could use bigger pikes for AP but accracy will suffer ![]()
What do you guys think? am I wasting points here some where?
