Thread: Block simple question from a new rifleman
If you block an attack it will reduce any damage taken by 50%, so whilst its not broken when it is looked at against dodge and counterattack it is horribly unbalanced.
Hope this helps
As soon as I get the chance today, I'll run a few tests. I'm sure I can get someone within my guild to shoot me.
I've heard that Block works (or is only supposed to work) against melee attacks. I'llbe interested to see what results you get especially now that the combat spam is fixed (which I just found out about thanks to this post) ![]()
And, if not mistaken, don't Fencers/Pistoleers and Swordsmen/Carbineers get more combined Dodge/Counterattack than Pikemen/Riflemen? If so, one or both of the latter classes may be deserving a bit more, hmm?
But per ranged profession:
Carbineer +105 Counter-Attack
Pistoleer +80 Dodge
Rifleman +70 Block
But presumably thats to do with balance, although I would argue that because Block is the only one which takes damage we should at least have more of it

When two classes stack their secondary defenses they go over +125 anyway and will be capped.

The cap placed on these things of +125 should be removed as part of the combat balance. The problem is that, currently, some people can make it so that they are in such excess of 125 in some areas that they are nigh untouchable. In theory, when the balance goes through, someone with +200 will have a great advantage over someone with only +100, but will still be vulnerable to attack. So it isn't completely foolish to look at these things with post-combat balance templates in mind.
And yes, Block's limited effectiveness could use an explanation of some sort. /shrug
