Not sure about today, Boberino, but Conceal Shot used to work even if you were standing.

Just make sure you're more than 40m away. If you're standing within 40m, I believe they might see you.

I could be wrong, so somebody slap me if so....

Thanks guys. A Spraystick sounds like a great weapon for this. And I'll work on getting an AoE attack ASAP. Is Flushing Shot the best?

If you were to rank our AoE shots in terms of damage, they'd go like this:

1) Strafeshot2(though lower DPS than FS2 until ~96 rifle speed)

2) Flushingshot2(can also add Stun effect + Posture Up)

3) Startleshot2(same damage as Flushingshot2 and can also add Stun, but no Posture Up and learned later than FS2)

4) Flurryshot2(can also add Dizzy)

I'm a Novice Rifleman, and I'm having quite a hard time getting XP.
It took me 3 hours on Dantooine today to fill one box. The problem is that, even at 60+ m, the Quenkers keep detecting me and rushing. Not only that, but ALL of the quenkers rush me. I'm using HeadShot2 while prone and Camo'd, and it ends up taking me about 30 minutes per lair.

After I finally collected 175k XP, I figured Conceal Shot would be the best help to me, since it is supposed to keep me from being detected, so I went ahead and picked that up before Sniping I (which is what the FAQ suggests). Guess what? I still get detected.

What am I doing wrong? Or is Rifleman just the slowest profession EVER?

Two words!

SPRAY STICK!

Buff up, and equip a spray stick to grind through those early levels of RM. This thing is built for close combat. Its basically like a pistol!

Are you going prone and getting under cover when you are using conceal shot?

If not, that could be the problem.

I'd also suggest getting an E11 rifle, (Maybe a couple if you're unlucky) and getting a damage slice and many many speed power-ups (You can fire an E11 pretty fast with 0/0/0/4, if you have that)

If you want, don't get the E11's with extra damage and get a normal one. I have a normal E11 with a good 30%-ish damage slice and I can use it to solo stuff unbuffed. All I need is a buncha stim B's and some brandy and muon for a trouble situation.

Also, try to get an AoE attack as soon as you can, so if you are trying to get master fast, you can get to a quenker lair, and just hit your AoE shot. Pretty much all there is to it if you ask me. I got master from 2/1/0/3 in4 days by doing this. (I never mastered rifleman before, when I did that grind, but I did play a hell of a lot )

Don't bother with area attacks for your grind. You'll find that you'll still take a group down faster with headshot 3 (things tend to change at master).

I suggest mastering Counter tactics II, so you can weild a DXR6b. They are great weapons, get one with a speed slice, get another with a dmg slice (so you can use it when you get the soldier title). After you get countersniping II, get all of the sniping line. And only use Headshot 3 till you are master or near master.

If you only ever fight single targets, HSs are the way to go because they focus all the damage on one pool. However, if you fight 2 or more targets very often, you should be killing them faster with Flushingshot2. To accomplish this, you will need a speed sliced T-21(30% or more) with 33% speed reduction power-ups(both of which you should have already). Against single targets, FS2 still has higher DPS than HS3 no matter how far you are in theSpecial Abilities(speed) line, but since FS2 is random-pool, HS3 will usually kill the creature faster. For more on DPS, modifiers, etc. go here.
