first off im used to planetside where i can engauge a target using a Rifle at 300+m so im wondering what are SWG rifles like for range and do scopes really let you zoom in and zero in on an enemy.

LOL! Sorry dude, but we are a bit handicapped here.

Maximum range is 64M(no, that's not a mistake). Scopes do not let you zoom in, at all.

Guess I need to add this to the New Rifleman FAQ as well...

Max range for any player weapon is 64m. No attack by a player can reach outside the 64m range (excluding an old CM bug, Lag, and Turrets (80m))

I think, in terms of Rifleman, the devs are thinking too much along the lines of PvP. That is why they are resistant to increasing our range for attack. That's fine. Just allow us greater range in PvE.

I thought you could engage at more than 64 with weapon powerup? I'm sure i did this using conceal shot the other day.

Sometimes if you are hunting large beasts such as krayts or kimogilas, it seems like you are shooting from further away than 64m. This has got to be something to do with the size of the creature and that even though the actualtarget is say 70m away, the creature is so large that a part of its body falls within the 64m range and therefore you are able to attack it.....thats just my guess anyway.

PvP balance is a valid point that i see here though, in planetside(an MMOFPS)a rifleman has to account for target movement and network latency where as in an MMORPG such as SWGthe game serveris calculating a hit or a miss for you based on skill, the weapon itself, range to target, and the fabled random number generator since manual aiming doesnt really work in an MMORPG.
